ok back to the new vert, here's a question, it looks like I may have K&N filter, per the remnants of 1/2 sticker..also my straps are not connected ? I have not started pulling on them and I don't know if they are un-connected for a reason ? also I realize this is not an earth shaking question but anyway I look at it and wonder. Actually I'm not a huge K&N fan, factory filter is fine with me.

My car seems a bit mysterious to me as it has had an interior change already. 4 owners before me, first 3 long term, car started life in Texas first 2 owners, then to Cali for a third owner then a quick 4th..also in Cali, then a dealer brought the car to Vegas where I saw it advertised locally. the carfax is clean.

My option card in the glovebox is smudged so I can't even really decipher all the options or the rear end. no way to know what the orig interior color was ??

Well I love this car so far, the thing is simply a joy to drive..but the honeymoon is waning and I'm finding some of the ****ly stuff..

Like most of us I guess, my car needs some restoration, aside from needing visors..I find the driver seat motor doesn't Lift or Tilt as it should, and never mind the the lumbar (none) oh well luckily back and forth is OK, also the passenger door BOSE speaker is shot. the Driver side is freakin' awsome with a BASS that rattles the neighbors windows.

Bottom line I gotta remember this is an old used car, so these things I will address as time goes by.

I'm still learning the car and it's different systems but most everything else seems to work properly and I'm particularly enjoying the ride control and the adjustable steering wheel.

btw as pics show the ride height on the new 'vert is a bit lower than my previous coupe, anyway egress is a good exercise. My front air dam is getting some frequent exercise too, I might take the car back up an inch, we'll see.

I also want to order a window sticker to see my options and stuff, but man those Monroneys ain't cheap anymore. I think I paid less than a fifty dollar bill last time, now we tear up a C-note....

I've got a set of Bose speakers that are in good order that your welcome to have, I'm offshore till next Monday but once I get home we can work out getting them to you if that will help. I might have a few other items should you need anything else, just have to look at what all I still have.

Damn today I had first mis-adventure with my new Platinum drop-top beast..

I had just pulled out of my friend's Car Lot (where my Black Beast is sitting, currently on consignment.)

All of a sudden I'm getting screwy read-outs on the DIC, shocks/suspension not working, 80mph restriction, low engine power, etc etc nasty stuff..

Well I sweated it over to my local Mech's shop (luckily the car ran ok )..I showed him the prob, his first thought was maybe a battery issue, actually my car did come with a crap re-manu'd battery that will be replaced, so I was hoping maybe that's all it was.

I left the car at the shop and went home feeling not so hot..

2 hrs later I get the call from Lee, come get your car..long story short as you can see he found a bad connection..some of you guys know that I'm no mechanic, so I don't know what he actually did, but I could tell he had messed with the steering column area and he mentioned finding my jack pucks as he had to remove a panel in the rear..so he definitely did something, the car is perfect again.

Bottom line is thank god for an honest local repair shop. I'm sure the dealership would have had me by the short hairs on this one.

You guys know being an old retired guy on a fixed income and owning a vette can be treacherous territory if you don't have good and reasonable repair sources.

The 'vette gods sort of smiled on me today I think..

A competent and honest mechanic is a gift from God. Mine is at the local dealership. Odd, I know, but there you have it.

I can't wait for you to post the pics with those tips on. My 'spare' stock mufflers have welded on tips. The ones I sent you were on the car when I bought it. They tighten on with little bolts. Kinda Kewl.

Bud, I had a black Z and now a pewter coupe. Tho' I appreciate the differences between the cars, I am so done with black. Claybar the car, machine polish, then a good wax, you would be surprised how good it will look.

Thanks I'm coming to like my subtle Pewter color even more than my initial impressions, dusty as can be and still looks sharp as hell, I'm warming to my custom interior a bit more as well, the dove gray inserts really look super in person, the seats were getting a bit dry so I've started my leather treatment already. Oh yeah my power driver seat quit grinding and magically started working again..typical old Chevy eh?

I ended up having to stay another week but will be home for sure this Monday, sometime Tuesday I'll pm you some pics of the speakers, I won't ever swap them back into my car so if they can help out a fellow Vette owner
They worked great when I removed em and have had em boxed up inside since.
Just wanted to let you know I've not forgot
