Default Painting calipers

I know there are a million threads on this, but on my torch red c5, I am going to paint the calipers(I don't like the covers personally, but to each his own) in the upcoming weeks. I already read all the very informative threads on here, and I will remove them to paint.

I have a question, and I am loking for opinions.

The question is, I am torn between painting them black or torch red. I've seen plenty of pix of them painted torch red and I like it, but I can't find any pix with torch red car, and black calipers. Every time I search, I see torch red car, with black rims and black calipers. Do you any u guys have torch red car with black rotors on non black rims that you can share some pictures? It would be greatly appreciated.

And the opinions I'm looking for, is onviously should I go with torch red or black? As some of u know from my first post, I am new on here and just got my c5 Tuesday.

Thanks guys!

In my last Corvette I painted them Red, after while they just looked dirty, no matter how hard I cleaned them.
I gave up, and re-painted them black, and never touched them again.

I PAINTED MINE RED. MY CAR IS A BLACK CONVERTIBLE AND I THINK THE RED LOOKS GOOD. I CLEANED THE PAINT OFF THE "CORVETTE" ON THE CALIPERS WHEN I WAS FINISHED. THE PAINT WAS CALIPER PAINT PURCHASED FROM O'REILLY'S. I ALSO INSTALLED THE POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE PAD COVERS. I DIDN'T THINK THE BLACK WOULD SHOW UP AS WELL SO WENT WITH THE RED.

I agree. I think the black would tend to get lost. I would go red!

Good Luck!

Just take a power wire brush to them and paint the letters. Thats what I did and it still looks good after 4yr. (and the nasty GY runflats are gone now !!)

I am not usually a fan of red calipers but when I bought my vette it had already had the calipers red and I like it. It might be because the car is red that I do not mind but usually when a person tells me they are painting there calipers I will recommend black.

I think gray looks better than nothing if you don't want a bright color !!!!! anything looks better than rusty, dirty, nasty looking rotors and calipers !!!!!!

If you decide to choice black, I would go with painting the letters red - that way they at least stand out.

However, you can't go wrong painting them red and then scrape the paint off the letters. The letters will be silver then and show up quite well on the red calipers.

I may do gloss black and scrape the letters so they're silver. Having a triple black 99, and picking up some chrome C6 replicas next week, when I do wheels and tires next spring, I'm considering painting the calipers at the same time. I hope it comes out as good as I picture it in my head.

How about Yellow? I've seen them and they look very good on red or black cars.

Go red or go home!
My g/f's Hyundai Genesis Coupe has red Brembo calipers on it and they look good. They pop and she gets compliments every so often.

I might go red in our nassau blue C5 eventually.

Any pics? I'm still back and forth but now leaning toward red. I too have a black vert and would love to see what it would like.

I painted mine black, then had such a bitch of a time getting the white letters to not look like ***. So I ended up shaving the letters and putting a clear over them. I used POR15 caliper paint. I also painted the rotor "hat". They were silver when I bought it and looked great to me until I got the wheels off.

No matter which color you go with, Take the time needed to make sure the surface prep prior to coating application is done correctly, A good clean surface is essential to any type of paint work, a little extra elbow grease will definitely go a long way.

I painted mine with VHT High Temp aerosol cans and cleared over that with the clear VHT High Temp paint. I went with red on a speedway white coupe. I also painted the hood of the rotors.

Good luck with your decision.

I wish I had my powdercoating setup still, I would have done it right.
