It's definitely different...I would totally rock that car and be proud of it! No offence to anyone, but I still think it's better than some of the, ahem, ahem, choice addons from some forum members (stick on chrome stuff from autozone, etc...)

I actually think it's pretty cool. I like the irony in the rusted plastic!! I just saw a newer 911 race car done the same way.

i thought the paint was just distressed or it was left out in the elements or something (which i thought was sort of cool in that way), seeing it's a wrap, wow-ugly.
now the corvette summer car---i loved that movie when i saw it back in '79!!!!! it fueled my love for corvettes!!!!! i was like 15!!!!!

This IS actually a trend that's starting to occur. I'm seeing more and more ratted out cars like this show up to car shows. Although none of them have been this new, they do garner a lot of attention and questions and with rumors of the Prequel to Fury Road a possibility now, we'll probably see more of this. There was a Corvette in Fury Road too. I think it was a C2 or C3.
I think it's unique. My exact thought when I saw it was "oh god, A car I don't have to spend hours detailing in 100 degree heat with sweat dripping buckets off my face and into my eyes". lol. Also, your average car thief is going to steer clear of this one. lol I might have completed the look with plasti-dipping the wheels similarly.

The guy was trying to sell it on a FB group I am on a few weeks back. Wanted $22,900 and was trying to hide the fact the car has 178k miles on it. Had a list of OUTRAGEOUS prices for replacement parts and was trying to represent as if a low mileage car. I called him out on it after he got shotty with me when I made mention that his replacement parts prices ($13,000 for a new trans and clutch for instance) were way too much. He promptly disappeared.
I just looked at the ad and his tune has definitely changed. He's now saying 13k in receipts. Before on FB it was 35k in receipts and God awful high pricing for everything he listed as I mentioned above.

There was a C5 near me that had a chrome wrap. Had lots of miles and he was still asking in the 20k area. Not to mention a 84 that had been painted turquoise with that rubber paint but he was down to $2500 after it had
been backed in to and started running rough.

if it weren't a corvette i'd say it looked like something that had sat in the back of the refridgerator for waaay too long...

The trend is distressed. They sell jeans that are all ripped up for MORE than ones that are new. True, IT’S AN UPSIDE DOWN WORLD. That car is most likely worth 2 xs more than an absolutely perfect looking C5.
I must be a weirdo; I like the new looking cars.
I sell NATURALLY DISTRESSED jeans. I’ve blown out the knees, have paint stains, look like crap for $700 on EBAY.

Well is auction is now up to 12K. Almost = his "receipts" with a day to go. 12K sounds about right actually...

Don't even quite know what to say. I'm not a fan of the rat rod movement either. In the end I guess it boils down to different strokes for different folks. I just prefer a, um, "nicer" finish, if you will. Y'all take care!
