Default TPMS question

Hi guys I have a 2000 corvette

It came with bmw rims (5x120 instead of the 5x120.65) and all four TPMS errors on the dash.

I am assuming it's because it's lacking the TPMS thingamajigs on the stems?

I don't know how this whole system works... so I bought some C6Z replica wheels they don't come with valve stems...

I am installing only the rear wheels/tires it's a 2000.

What do I need to get?

hey ahmed, there are no tpms sensors on those wheels

when I purchased the car originally it had at least 1 dead tpms sensor so I sold them off along with the stock wheels and never replaced them , drove without them for the whole time I had the car.

The 5x120 wont throw any tpms codes, im running bmw wheels on my z right now, and ran them on my last car for two years as well

97-00 tpms are more expensive to replace then 01-04's, so be prepared.

As far as I know you will have to have a hole drilled in your c6 replicas to to allow for the tpms sensors

It's quite possible that there are no Tire pressure sensors in the wheels. If it has rubber valve stems, then it does not have the factory TPS installed.

On the replicas, it would depend on whether the wheels were set up to accept the factory sensors - many replicas are and all you have to do is install the sensors and program. The vendor you bought the wheels from should know.

Mine have been dead since I bought the car. I keep saying I'll replace them and its been 2 years now.

I just clear the codes, they come up every so often.

A load of nonsense huh ?

then why do all of my high end wheels have two holes in them from the factory?

One for the valve stem and one for the tpms

How the **** are you going to attach a tpms near the sidewall where the regular valve stem goes?

Some wheels are TPMS compatible and others are not, if his replicas are not compatible then drilling might be the only option.

But hey , its all a load of nonsense, you know best

On my second vette the entire tpms system has been deleted from the computer

One less thing to go worry about

Does anyone have pix or something? I honestly know nothing about this whole system...

I will install the fronts too but will need to get new tires so that's why I'm installing the rears only.
