/Looking for a new run flat. Lots of good reviews on the Michelin Pilot S-port AS Plus. Presently have BFG KDW 275/ 35-18 front and 295/35-19 rear. Only offering in the Michelin is 285/35-19 rear and 245/40-18 front. Keeps basically same stagger. Fronts will be a lot narrower. What are thoughts on this combo? Any recommendations or experience with the Michelins?
Hope to get some insight from some of you with similar needs.
Overpriced and not worth it. They are very proud of their tires. I've had the original Goodyear, Kuhmo (spell?), Michelin, and now Bridgestone. All run flats. I'd take the Kuhmo's again if I could find them Best bang for the buck. I couldn't believe how fast the Michelins wore out. Just one man's opinion.
I would price the tires around..... I like Michelin....but very pricey....look at BFG, Kuhmo, Firestone...etc. Are you on BFG KDW non runflats now? If so....I feel like you will be disappointed going back to run flats. I have the BFG KDW's and love them (non runflat)
Thanks for the input. KDW non-RF now. They are soooo much better than the GY RF. Nicer ride and quiet. And they look awesome! Too bad BFG doesn't make them any longer. I don't drive it as much as I should. Can't take it to work, too many people that have no consideration for other vehicles and bang them with their doors. Too many years on these to feel comfortable taking it on a long trip/drive. How many years on anyone's tires?
I do have AAA so if a non-RF tire goes down, make a phone call. I'm concerned with these old tires separating or having a sidewall fail. That would suck.......
Been running Michelin Pilot A/S RF's for some years now - same sizes you mention, 245/40x18 and 285/35x19 which are base C6 tire sizes (that's why I went with those sizes, and why they are widely available in RF. No sign of any premature wear. Lots of grip and plenty of tread to deal with bad road conditions - it's an all year round car, and we get winter here!
Looks like a lot out there in non-RF in a couple close sizes. 275/35-18 and 265/35-18 fronts and 285/35-19 and 295/35-19 rear. BFG has a summer only and an AS Sport Comp-2 and Comp-2 AS. Good prices and good reviews. Other ideas?
go w the non runflats....you will be some much happier w the performance and you can work out any issues if you have them.....AAA or get the tire fixed...not a big deal.

I run non- run flats on my non-Z06 C5. The fact of the matter is if a run flat suffers damage that compromises it's sidewall the run flat ability isn't going to help anyway. A smal puncture however, just like with a run flat, would cause a small enough leak that you could likely drive on it long enough to be serviced. This is why I keep a cheap-o 12V air compressor in one of the rear compartments.
Personally I'd not completely limit my tire selection to run flats, considering there's such a large set of options out there for even general asymetric tires that can likely save you a little coin, while providing better ride and performance. Plus in 2016 unless you're driving the Great North or Death Valley not too many places that'll leave you completely and utterly stranded.
Costco has some excellent prices on both Michelin and Bridgestone. Would any of you trust your wheels to Costco? They seem to have excellent equipment and I would assume they would stand by their quality of service.
I talked with our local America's Tire about wheels. I have SSR GT3's that are not available any longer. The person I spoke with said if they are not available, if something happens, not much they can do. My response, if you damage one of my wheels, which would be inspected prior to any work done, it would be an "oh well"? Said pretty much, of course this is a hypothetical situation. I said I would rather discuss this as hypothetical rather than hear you say "sorry, can't do anything" after you damage a wheel.
