When I apply my brakes, it feels like the front pads are acting weird. When I start slowing down, it feels like the front brakes almost pulse and you can hear them on the rotors. Do I need new rotors or just pads? Never quite experienced that with any other car I have owned
Does sound like warped rotors. If they are warped, they can't be resurfaced so new rotors would be in order. You didn't say how many miles are on the brake pads, but it would be a good idea to install new pads at the same time the rotors are replaced.
My C5 2001 Vert Brakes (49k miles, all orig) were starting to feel funny, not pulsing, but were grabbing a bit but mostly pulling a lot... Pad thickness was fine. Rotors were fine. After pulling the pads I saw that every contact/sliding point was dry & dusty...
I used brake cleaner carefully and cleaned the pads, calipers, retaining metal clips, and guide rods, etc, and properly greased w/Caliber Grease and they are working like NEW again! Maybe the factory caliber greasing was adequate initially, but not after 15 years regardless of miles (low or high!)! Bottom line, take the time to inspect before just throwing parts at it.
If you do that, you should expect to see the problem you're experiencing go away. A pulsating feeling when applying the brakes is almost always due to 1) warped rotors, 2) glazed-over brake pads, or 3) both.
replaced pads and had rotors machined because of warping. all good now
