If you could swing a little bit more (or take a little more time) cold air, long tube's and exhaust, CAM kit & tune will get you in the 400 range.
You'll end up doing more sooner or later anyway (most all do)

If you shop carefully, wait for sales etc., you should be able to get right around your goal with less than the $3k. Good exhaust, good free flowing intake and a computer/dyno tune from a recognized/recommended tuner (don't use just anyone, this forum should be able to help with that). Good luck and best wishes!

Vararam + Power Duct + Long Tube Headers + Tune gave me 357 rwhp, 367 torque. Did intake myself and had Headers installed. Under $2500.

All my money has gone into suspension and brakes. I will get to the motor eventually, but this is great info.

That's impressive! I installed a Halltech CAI, had the TB Ported/Polished, installed LT Headers, removed the Cats, added Ti Exhaust and then had her Dyno tuned (on a Mustang Dyno MD1750). All up, that bumped my 02 M6 to only 338 rwhp, 337 torque.

XS Power headers and X-pipe: $850
Tune: $300
= Pretty close to 350rwhp.

You'd have $$$ left over for an intake if you really want one.

Exactly. Bone stock is where I started from...sounds like 330-340 rwhp is about average for these mods. Thanks.

My '01 A4 came with SLP CAI and BB exhaust from PO, I added LT's and tune and got to 331HP/340TQ. Also had 3:15 gears if that made any difference.

REALISTIC expectations with these mods is 320 - 330 ish. With a cam kit also you will get to 350 - 360.

Just the cam kit + install will eat up most of your $3K budget.

I would recommend starting with CAI/LS's/Exhaust/Tune and see how you like it, the LT's and tune on mine made a HUGE difference and I couldn't have been happier.

OP is a 6 Speed Manual... you guys dynoing 290 stock and then going 330 with LT's must all be auto....

From what I have seen most 6 Speed C5's dyno 300-305 stock... with plenty of guys with LT's jumping up into the 340-350 range.

My 03 6MT with Blackwing intake and XS Power long tubes dyno'd 350 rwhp on the nose after tune. I did the work myself, but parts alone was $1k. $300 for tune. Installed should be well under $3k.

Are you gonna want more? If so save another 1k and get yourself a used blower. Bolt ons are nice but you will want more. Especially if you race hell some 4bangers make more hp stock then we do.
