I'm a 19 year old male looking for a base model c5 vette as my 1st car, in what ball park would insurance cost? I know red cars typically cost more so I'd probably go for silver or white

He's asking about insurance cost. That is almost impossible to give you a figure on - too many factors go into the rate you pay. Location, vehicle usage, driver age/marital status/driving record/where the car is garaged (or not), etc. all contribute to a rate.
I can say this - I have three cars on my policy, no tickets/accidents, live in a Midwestern city of 34K or so population, and car is always garaged. Plus I'm much older than you and married. And I have a collectors car policy through the NCM so usage is limited each year. I pay $415/year full coverage and an agreed value on the car through the NCM.
Any insurance company will be happy to give you a quote. They are about the same as other cars. Corvettes used to be expensive to insure back in the day but times have changed.
Believe it or not, the number one influence on rates is your credit score, with your insurance score coming in second. Being that the OP has such a short history and his age the rate will be high for any car.
As Jack stated it is not possible to give you a accurate amount. All depends on the area you live and the company.
On the first Corvette I purchased I was 19 and married. No tickets or accidents and i got a letter from the Insurance Company stating that they were cancelling my policy due to my purchasing a Corvette.
They did not want to insure me with a Corvette. I did find another agent that got me insured. The cost was $40.00 a month for full coverage.
That was in 1969 and if you calculate the buying power in todays value is around 266.00.
It will be a lot for you to insure a C5 I do believe. Good luck and be sure and shop around for insurance.
Your zip code will be the single largest factor in what you pay for insurance. Just call around and get some hypothetical quotes.
In one of the insurance rate comparison threads, I found out I'm paying 3 times what a younger person with tickets and accidents living in SC pays for identical full coverage from the same insurance company. In fact, their rate was lower than what I'd pay if I only carried liability.
Before I bought the C5, I was astonished to learn a new Honda Civic would be more expensive to insure. ~300 a month for a Civic. I pay about 150 on my Corvette.
You can get a very nice and well maintained C5 for under $20K if you look around and be patient. On the insurance, you are young and I would guess single. There is no point guessing on this. Call some companies, pick an example year/model and inquire. Perhaps adding your intended vette to your family policy would work. A lot of variables that would be considered. A small investment in time is all it takes to get that info. Best wishes!
There are a number of factors that will determine your insurance premiums (and the color of the car isn't a factor). The type of policy will have a huge impact in the premium. Are you going to pay cash or finance it? Having to finance it will most likely require you to carry not only liability coverage but collision and comprehensive coverage as well. Also things like uninsured or under-insured motorist coverage and possible theft coverage. If you are buying the car outright, liability coverage only would be the minimum requirement and will be cheaper.
Your state will probably require that you carry some type of liability insurance. If you should get stopped, you will probably be asked for proof of insurance.
Some insurance companies may flatly refuse to issue you a policy simply because of your age, you have a Corvette, and it's your first car.
Then get one ticket and watch your premiums climb like the national debt.
I got my red 99 coupe when I was 20 and the insurance has never been bad. I don't have any accidents or tickets and it is about $50 less a month than my other car (Saab 9-3 viggen).

One thing that seems to always be left out is the time of year. In the snow belt, a vettes price could drop $3000 to $4000 in the fall because of storage.
Just as a relative comparison, my C5 costs almost half of what my 2011 Saab does is to insure. The C5 is limited to 7,500 miles per yer other than that the coverage is identical.
The sad thing is they're worth about the same now.
As others have stated, there are many factors that determine your rate so its hard to give u a ballpark number. Some companies will be cheaper than others. I was 22 when I got my Corvette. Credit score was in the 600's and I paid 220 a month for the first 6 months. No tickets or accidents with full coverage. It dropped to 160 the following 6 months. I'm 24 now and I recently switched to Geico and have my Vette and my Silverado on my policy. The Vette is right at $100 and some change a month.
At age 19, get your priorities in order. Get a used Honda and start saving up. When you get to the point to where you would not need to ask about insurance costs you'll be able to afford one.

If I would have done that, I would be in a much different place.
When I was 19 (1990), I bought a '70 Cuda for $6k that I never should have sold. I was in the Navy and USAA was cheap. Had I known what I know now, it would have been a C3.
i can't remember the exact cost but back when i was in the military, i paid more for my 01 gt conv and 02 ws6 than i did for my old 03 z06 in the panhandle of fl. it's been a few years though
