Default Dreaded C1214HC code

My 02 has the service ABS and traction control lights on so I pulled the codes. Got the C1214HC code which, by doing some research, points to a bad relay in the EBCM.
My question is: Is this the only thing that could be causing this? I would hate to pull the EBCM, send it in for a $200 repair, then put it back in to find out it didn't fix the problem.
Pulling it is going to be a bitch too as I have lots of underhood chrome to remove first.

You have to be an expert electronics circuit board assembler to do this, Unless you are...don't try this at home, Best to send it out reducing a lot of headaches. The removal and reinstallation is going to be hard enough. Mine is doing the same thing, I just live with it. Good luck with you repair. CorvetteBob

It's understandable some may need to send their units off, however if you can turn a wrench and know how to solder something then you'll be set in doing this yourself. As many have mentioned the hardest part of this entire process is removing the EBCM cover, but after that it's relatively easy. Touch each relay post with the solder iron and add a tiny bit of new solder and it's done.

With that said if you're hesitant or unfamiliar with working on your own car, then by all means take your C5 to someone who can help.

Good luck with whatever you decide and I hope this issue gets resolved.
