Hi all, thought it was time I should do this, I've been on here for a year or so, and a couple of weeks ago I finally bought my first Corvette. It's a 2004 Torch Red on Red, Vert, 6-spd, 36K miles, pretty stock except for a Hurst short shifter, Corsa cat-back, skip shift eliminator, and a CAI from Mid-America Motorworks. Haven't done a whole lot to it yet, wash and wax, bought an LMC5 and a GM bra, adjusted the exhaust tips to be aligned better, and installed the lighter springs in the Hurst shifter. (man it was stiff!) I'm in love, I go out to the garage and just stare at it any chance I get. I know red on red might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it just spoke to me when I saw it. Thanks again to everyone that provided advice on what to look for when buying one of these beauties, it was quite a journey, but well worth the trip. I look forward to being here for a long time, as I'm sure this won't be my last Corvette.
Well here she is in all her glory. Sorry for the crappy garage pics, I'm hopefully taking it to the lake this weekend and plan to get some better outdoor pictures.
It never gets old. Two years in I still have to pinch myself to believe its not a dream. You have a gorgeous car and I'm sure you'll take good care of it. Red on red is just fine.
I can always appreciate a person who employs some thought and skill when making a buying decision. PLus I have version of the same car, abused, and triple black. Obviously, I support your decision. , way to go.
I was first slapped in the face by GM's red on red thinking way back when an uncle took us all to the zoo in a big new impala four door back in the sixties, and that's a lot of red.
But what are you going to do? Most colors bring and unpleasant visual clash with bright red, so might as well go all in. I have heard that red attracts tickets, from owners who have ditched the color , but suspect that is a more personal thing than a universal red problem.
I have a black on black stick vert which I thought a good color for this old man, let the young guys enjoy some flash, and just stay in my lane, no attention, no tickets. But it is a flashy car and I might add a car dip later on, I always liked pearls or candy colors, and the cost allows for easy exploration of the results.
