There is a 2003 electron blue ZO6 in our forum for sale ads right now. 78K miles with a few tasteful mods for 20K. No leak in front. I would assume offering 19 or 19.5 wouldn't be out of the question. 78K miles is still very low for a 13 year old car. I would have no problem buying this one and saving $4000.
Oh man! Decisions decisions. I will talk with him tomorrow and take the car for a burn after he puts the tires on properly. Like was said I am afraid I'm going to get a pitiful offer on my car, and if the difference is huge I will probably keep my car as I know it is healthy . It's certainly not the fastest but at the end of the day it's still a corvette and it's still faster than most on the road and it makes me smile rowing the gears and hearing the purr of a pushrod v8!!
I had an 03 vert Z51 that had longtubes with Z06 exhaust and was tuned. I now have an 03 Z06, The Z06 is HANDS DOWN better car!! I would do it if you can.
It doesn't matter what you "feel" your car is worth. EVERYTHING is negotiable! I say you go up there, drive the car, identify all of its shortcomings and make an offer "out the door"!
Have a rock bottom idea of what you will take for yours vs what you will pay for the EBZ06 and don't waiver. Worst case scenario the guy calls you in a couple of weeks because the car is still on his lot and then you offer $1K < from the initial agreed price stating that you have found another one. That is my .02....
Oh, and the Z is a totally different car in every way.
I totally agree with keeping them both. The wife does not lol. Yes I am hoping he is willing to negotiate, some guys are and some aren't. My car has some miles but is darn near perfect in all other aspects including paint so if he offers me something pitiful I'll laugh at him

Do you mind telling me how much extra you shelled out for the Z over your base car? Also insurance is saying about 100 more a year for the z over my current coupe

Be prepared to laugh.
Something pitiful is exactly what he will offer you. Your best bet is to sell your car, not trade it.
The Z is a totally different animal. And the looks of the FRC trumps the hatchback every day of the week. My only reservation is wondering why the previous owner reversed the wheels. This might indicate he is a wannabe drag racer and call into question what else might be lurking.
If that car doesn't check out, keep looking. You will certainly want a Z over your coupe and one that is right will come along.
24K is a bit high, if u can get the price down on the Z and get a good trade on ur current C5 so that the price difference isnt huge then u have something to think about. Like u said u know the condition of ur car and how well u maintained it, with the Z try to get as much history about the car as u can. Goodluck!
Yes the price is what the sales guys call TOP DOLLOR , had to remember after you buy it if you do pro. can never get that price for it again no mater what you do to it so the question is what you want it for ? drive and keep for awhile mod it make hot rod out of it . The low miles are good and not a lot of work to keep them running great change oil fluids drive . To make a hot rod out of the C-5 Z ,good cam headers port stock heads a few bolt ons a very good streetable hot rod with A/C and run with most anything ,I got 525 FWHP fun ride drive anywhere . or a C-6 Z my 04 Z out run any stock C6-Z easy .Lots ways to look at it... .

It's funny you mention about Manheim auction. If I were to take a picture the other way you would see the entire Manheim auction as it is the property across the street ha.
those lots are generally gigantic. basically costco parking lots full of cars
Fun fact: I worked at the manheim auto auction when I was in high school. On friday which was the general sale day, they would average near 10,000 cars across the block. that where I drove my first corvette and fell in love So I have been digging on Manheim auto auctions website and it looks like the average suggested retail on a 25-30 K mile 2002 Z is between 19600 and 21000. and Im almost 100 percent sure the small leak is brake fluid. I was able to reach under and feel it. Its a clear oily fluid that doesnt really have too much smell to it. They were closed today so Im hoping to get a look at it tomorrow and take it for a test drive after the wheels are put on properly
