Default I'm back :) this time, with a vette!

Alright boys, I joined here about 5 years ago, been through a few cars, trucks and bikes but never pulled the trigger on a vette. Bought my folks 2000 off of them last weekend. She is a torch red model with 97k on her. Tomorrow I am getting the drivers window regulator replaced. The oil pressure reads max so I'm having the oil pressure sensor replaced as well(from what ive read here i think that is the problem) I've been driving her for the last couple weeks and have put on almost 2000 miles. I won't do to much to it because it's my daily driver/commuter. The short list of mods will be window tint, new head unit so I have Bluetooth, etc. And new wheels and tires when the current GY run flats wear out. They have decent tread, but seem to be a hard compound, rough riding tire. I'll be switching to regular tires and a plug kit with compressor in the rear storage compartment. I'm thinking about doing 17x9.5 fronts and 18x11 in the rear but not sure what way to go just yet. I will be putting abut 35k a year on the car so I don't want to have to take out a 2nd mortgage every year for new tires or i would do the 18x9.5 19x11 combo. What would be a good size wheel tire combo that won't break the bank? I've been through a bunch of threads but I'm tired of doing the leg work.

Congrats !!!!!! Ya man picking wheels and tires for these cars are not your Dads old chevy !!!! I went with 18/19 because I felt I had a bigger selection for tires. To keep ABS and AH (if you have it) the rears need to be between 3/4 and 1 inch taller than the fronts (I think). I went with 245/40/18's on the front and 295/35/19 for the rears hope that helps you ???

Thanks aka pounder. Yes it has abs and ah. I wanted to go 18s all around for cost reasons, but I guess that isn't advised. I love the look of the 19/18 combo but aren't the tires a lot more pricey in those sizes? Maybe I'll just say F it and go with them. I won't be lowering or anything like that and I want a flush look. These staggered wheels make sizing more difficult lol

Black on silver looks so good.... I like the gunmetal quite a bit on the red ones that I Googled. Not quite black, but not quite silver. Decisions, decisions lol

Thank you sir. My folks took great care of it since late 99 when they bought it new. They are just too old now to get in and out of it so they wanted to sell it. I got lucky, they made me a great deal on her.

Having a 2000 myself, one of the best things you can do is have a complete brake fluid service done by someone with a Tech 2 that can purge all of the old fluid out. Moisture will collect in the fluid and corrode the ABS pump. There are NO pumps being manufactured for the pre 2001 cars, so take care of what you got. I do a complete brake fluid change every 2 years, and never hesitate to get it a bit loose in the wet to activate the pump so the fluid circulates.

That's a falsehood, I have 265/35/18 front and 295/35/18 rear and there aren't any problems with ABS/Traction control. Going same size tire all around yes problems.

You can get a set of C5z wheels either repro or factory fairly cheap and they have a bit of lip so they look flush and have a good stance. One inch wider front and back and you know the offsets are correct.

They look great when lowered a little.

I just priced tires for an 18/19 setup. They are about the same as what I spent on my 17/18 setup. Do yourself a favor and ditch the runflats right away. Your ride will improve markedly.

Who said anything about cheap wheels?
