Default I'm in love

Just drove my 2001 m6 coupe home from Scotty's (my mechanic) with a new 4.1 differential. The daily driver has 214,000 miles on it (all mine) and I wanted a little more "get up and go" that didn't require maintenance. The only performance upgrades I've bolted on is vararam intake. Last year I purchased a COW tune. All were worthwhile, but the love is back with the 4.1.

What does the car turn at 70? Just curious?

How bad of an install is a rear gear change? I've got a 2004 base automatic with I believe 2.73's. Diffs seem to be relatively inexpensive used, labor probably costs a bundle though?

I installed a 4.11 in my 1972 454CID 550 HP and it was awesome, but I also installed a Hone Overdrive that would switch it over to 2.87 on the fly. Best of both worlds...

I had a 2000 WS6 M6 with a Moser 12 bolt and 4.10's H/C/I and it turned 1900 rpm at 70 mph. I still got 22-23 MPG on the highway which is good for a car several hundred pounds heavier.

That gearing has to set you back in the seat when you floor it.

you have the luxury of so many units out there, 3.90 and 4.10 not so much. if you did just the dif change, I don't think it's a very big deal !!!

Nice I am considering 3.73 or 3.90 gears. Do you find you are shifting a lot more with the 4.10's also?

I had 4.10 gears on my '80 C3 with the anemic 190 hp 350ci...let me tell you I do recall having one heck of a blast on the streets. Smok'n most everything on the streets. Fun sharing my Corvette's spec's...forgot the mention the gearing...lol.
