I have surpassed the odds!
Things I have noticed:
1) My service active handling light comes on maybe once a month and then goes away right after I turn on the car for the next drive.
2) I am probably going to raise the car up a hair (some stuff is pretty damn close to scraping)
3) I'll probably need new rotors soon, my pads are just fine.
4)The car is fast, but you have to be ever so careful on the street.

5)Working on the car is enjoyable and easy!

Lastly, I am going to the track this friday (October 28th 2016) to run the quarter mile! I've done a practice launch @2,200 rpm on the street, but I'm interested to see the difference in a prepped surface (I'll be on street tires). Should I drop rear tire pressure down a little? Anybody think I'll crack 1.99 60' Lol!
I also just bought C4 ZR1 wheels in black 17x9.5 & 17x11 in the rear! I read the Super Chevy article and I knew 17s all around made sense! Now I just need tires!

Happy driving everyone!

I was 17 when I bought a 69 Camaro with a 375 hp 396 4 speed with 4.10 gears, hardly a mild car, and I got in my share of trouble. I found out fairly quick that racing it at the strip was more fun and safer !!!
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah I plan on a small spin just to clean the tires off! What's a reasonable goal? 12.5? It's an 02 Z with LTs and CAI
Thanks!

Of course it is going to take some seat time to get these kind of times, especially practicing your launches and 60 times.
12.5 is a very reasonable goal for your first time out.

So when other Kids that are 17 are in school on Friday, and trying to get an education, you are at the drag strip... ????
I have to say that No, you have not surpassed the " Important "odds of success or a bright future.

A 12,000 dollar 17 year old C5 can be bought by any kid working at MacDonald's.. and feeding an old C5 will burned most 17 year old kids quickly...Not the career path I would want to see for my kids..
My Kids at 17 were doing advance placement course when they were that age, Now one has a PHD in Pharmaceutical science, and the other Has a Degree in Engineering... Both are successful professionals with families, beautiful homes, and great jobs. They were very focused on getting a good education, because we set the bar high for them as did my parents for me. I retired at 55 , ( 16 years ago ) and could die tomorrow and would not feel gipped. I would want the same for any teenager....Smart Kids are in school on Friday... not playing when they should be learning.
Just offering some tough love.. but then the audience here has changed dramatically over the last 15 years too. I have most of the present " Deplorables "on Ignore.. because their input is insignificant to me.

I graduated HS when I was 17. No, I didn't quit.
From what I read in the OP, I have no idea what his timeline is, nor I can decipher it from other posts. He might be 18, 19 or 20+ now for all I know.
Just because he's doing something hands-on on a Friday doesn't mean he's ignoring other priorities.
Even if he is still in school, what drag track is open during the day on a Friday for grudge match sessions? Those usually start up at 5 or 6 in the evening around here.

Good for you, especially at your age!
