I bought some used CCW sp500 wheels the first of this year that was in bad need of a good polish. I have been using Adams metal polish #1 & #2 applied it with a microfiber towel and removed it with a microfiber towel but no mater how much polishing I did there would be a light haze to the shine. Was at a Corvette car show about a week ago and saw a C5 that had nice shinny CCW SP500's on it. I tracked down the owner and he said stop using microfiber towels and only use webril wipes on my wheels. I was leaving fine scratches with the towels that is what is leaving the some what dull finish. I tried in a small area the webril wipes with the Adams polish and wow what a shine. These are a must if you have polished CCW wheels. I will never again use Microfiber towel on my wheels.
I tried to find Webril Wipes when I restored my CCW wheels (at Toque's suggestion) this spring and could not find a source for them in Canada. I agree with Vistance that not all micro fibre towels are created equally. I got a couple of clothes from Adam's when I bought the metal polish 1 & 2, they worked great.
Lots of work keeping these CCW wheels in great shape but when you make the effort they really do shine.
I also made up this jig for making it a little easier to work on them. Worked great and cost virtually nothing.

I bought mine through amazon. Very creative on wheel holder.
What kind of microfiber towels did you use? I never thought much about using them beyond the fact that they were microfiber but I picked up a big kit of different kinds of microfiber towels from The Rag company and they come in a lot of different GSMs and blends. Most of the kind I had before these never specified any of that information, but of the dozen or so towels I have now they all have varying feels just to the touch. I would think for polishing you'd want a really high GSM count. The low ones snag lightly as you run your hand over them, where the high GSM ones do not.
Not for sure what kind my micro fiber towels are bought mine from auto parts store.I just know the webrils are amazing difference in how they work.
I think Toque was the first to recommend the Webril wipes and you are correct that they do make a difference when polishing CCWs. Unfortunately, I have to order them online as no local stores carry them. Camera or other General stores.
