I just recovered my seats with Corvette America all leather covers. They look great, however my old seat covers were shiny and the new leather ones are a natural leather, not shiny. In keeping with the originality of my car, should my new covers by shiny?
Not sure what you mean by shiny unless it's due to the wear and/or conditioner product you may have used. Here's what my seats looked like the day I brought my C5 home when it was first delivered to me.
Congrats on your new covers.
Real, uncoated leather is not naturally "shiny".
The OEM leather in C5s has a clear coat on it that prevents it from absorbing moisture and give it that shiny look. If your new covers are not coated then you will need to protect it with quality leather care products. Make sure the products are designed for leather, not vinyl. I suggest using LEXOL products as they have been in use for decades and are actually designed for real, uncoated leathers of all sorts.
Nothing wrong with your new covers. The leather will eventually get shiny as you slide your tail end in and out of it and normal wear, cleaning, etc, etc.
