On my last two C5s I have used a set of BMW jacking pucks. They snap in and have not come loose. You can remove them if you need to, but I've never seen the need to do so. No interference at all while driving and I don't have to worry about damage to my rocker panels should I need to take the car to a shop for something.
This is the way to go...I have these on my Vert and I had the fiberglass ones on my coupe. They both work awesome for jacking points and prevents scrapes on the underside.http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/c...nd-mtg-screws/
I have had the BMW pads on my Corvette for the last 14 years. Since I autocross and track my car, I probably raise and lower my car over 50 times a year making alignment and tire changes, bleeding the brakes, changing pads and rotors, etc and never had an issue.
Is there a standard BMW jack pad that is used or are they all universal fit? Saw some that said they were for Mini's so I'd guess those might be smaller in size.

I'm going to have to agree with jdvann. After much debate I went with the EE frame rails and it's made life that much easier when working on the car at home or putting it on a lift.
Since they run down the length of the of the side of the car they kinda make it idiot proof when taking the car to a shop.
TBut the tire shop, I dunno. It's only one place I'm going to take it besides my trusted shop and I will be there as they do it and would explicitly point out they need to align the jack points. From others experience, do you really have to hand hold them and stand over their shoulder as they put your car on the rack?
I always mention the jacking points when I have mine serviced. Better a word to the unwise than a damaged rocker panel or floor.
As to tire shops, I always use a local Discount/Americas Tire shop. They always use floor jacks on Vettes and similar cars rather than the drive on lifts they use on most cars. And the spot where they do the jacking is right next to a big picture window where you can closely watch the process.......seems they understand my concerns.

Me too. Sometimes they give me a puzzled look and I have to explain why the pads are there.
