It's official. After just over 5 years of ownership I sold my C5 last Saturday and today I received my order number for my 2017 GS/Z07 convertible R8C. It was a dependable and enjoyable car despite it's troubled history, and the CF community here is great. I just hope the folks over in the C7 section are as knowledgeable and friendly.
About 2 weeks ago I picked up my new C7. Hanging on to the C5 for now. I am still in training to figure this C7 out. Hours in the Garage with the battery tender on and the owners manual in hand.
I wish I had the extra coin to go with the Grand Sport. What a car.
The wider stance with the GS is the way to go.
I Like it.
My C5 was my first and I still miss it after 3 more newer cars. We are OK but the C7 guys are not as fun as the C5 section and frankly I come back in here every so often to see whats up. Some folks in C7 think that theirs does not smell to be honest, but JMHO.
IDK how many regulars in here realize the prices of the C7s are at a firesale. Overproduction, fewer buyers means that a C7 may be more reasonable than you think both new and used.
The C7 is certainly a leap forward and for the years and money should be. You will enjoy the C7 but I have great memories of my first Corvette a 2000 red coupe.
I might get one eventually, but I need to warm up to the 7 speed manual first. If they offered it with the 6 speed, I'd be on it like a fat kid on cake.

Curious what is ur concern? Keep it is 6th if that is your preference. So much torque 7th works too. I shift many times 1st to 6th there is that much torque.

Thats the problem I have. We want to order so we can do the NCM delivery and watch it being built, plus we get about $8K off the sticker with GM family discount. Trouble is you can get new one off the lot for about $15K off sticker. Lot of extra $$$ just to watch it being built

.
I've been watching prices of C7's make their way down. Seems like they are dipping in prices faster than other generations of Corvettes did when they were "newish." I am completely fine with this though as my wife is looking to purchase a C7 within the next year and a half.

I always thought of the NCM delivery as more of a novelty thing than anything else. It's kinda like watching your child being born and the excitement and miracle that goes with it. It's an experience that is hard to put a value on because you are paying for a lifelong memory.

You could use this analogy x10 because I did the buyer's tour as well. That was very awesome seeing your car get built on the line and being able to shake the hands of the men and women who assembled it.
I would have no problem with the upgrade you made, unfortunately I'm too close to retiring to feel comfortable with taking on any debt, at least not yet, looking forward to seeing post about that new ride, congratulations
Same here. I could actually buy a new C7 with cash but that would burn my entire emergency savings. It is tempting but stupid. I'd rather keep driving my C5 Z and retire when I'm 59 1/2. 😊
Brought it home on Monday 1/9. The whole experience is amazing and something I'll remember forever! I just hope it doesn't take two more generations for the C7 section to be like here...
