Default My build bummer...

So I'm working building my C5 when it comes time to install the heads. I take the two headgasket packages off the work bench and noticed they weren't the same. They were shrink wrapped in the same packages but one was MLS and the other was plain old OEM. The MLS cost $87.00 while the OEM was a $11.99 version. I paid for 2 MLS Headgaskets. It's OK since the auto parts store will correct the mistake. But it will delay me a couple of days. No problem since I can find other things to do.

If that's the big bummer of a build, you're doing all right.

Your luck is about the same as mine - seems like it is always something when trying to repair a car.

Yes it's a delay I didn't want. I was just spending the day installing the final parts before putting the heads on. But at least I can devote my time and effort into making the engine bay spotless. Yesterday I polished out the LG Streets headers and made them look pretty again. I needed to come back and reposition and clean up the electrical wiring harnesses that the kids left in disarray. I've spent many years working at dealerships doing warranty work and R&R engines on many cars. So at least I get time to do this right on my sweet C5.

Just think about it, there's an employee of a major AutoParts chain and his only job was to put 2 headgaskets in a shipping box.... and he failed at it.

Oh wait....this gives me time to get some wire loom covering in black or red and replace all that old cracked up and brittle stuff....there is a goodside to a little delay afterall.

The strength of many great companies is in their weakest employee...and we pay for it.

That parts handler at Oreilly's Auto Parts now has a new entry on his resume...

"Unable to reach into parts bin and pull 2 parts of the same part number and insert them into a shipping box."
