Took my 2000 FRC M6 on a road trip last weekend (Harrisburg, PA to NJ) on the PA turnpike. was cruising on the way home at about 80. Heard a noise almost like I had run over something then noticed that the engine was running rough and making noise. Wasn't lifter noise, oil pressure was at 40psi, gauges all normal. Had the clutch in engine at idle. Feathered the accelerator a few times and the problem stopped. No problems the rest of the way home. No messages on the DIC, no CEL, Only thing I could think of is Optispark. Could use some assistance on this one.
My apologies, Optispark was an assumption on my part as I have not has the time to investigate this yet (between full time work and running a horse farm). My priorities have been elsewhere, just trying to get a jump on looking at the problem. BTW, the car was a birthday gift from my wife a month ago, she found it, checked it out and bought it herself,
It's going to have to wait till the weekend. Dark by the time I get home. Feed and take care of the animals, have dinner, time for bed. Rinse and repeat!
Since there isn't a current problem I wouldn't worry too much.
Pull the codes, write them down, and then delete them all.
That way if something else happens you have a fresh slate of codes to give you a clue.
By the way, these engines don't have a distributor anymore. Each spark plug has it's own little coil. The spark plug wire goes directly from each coil to it's own spark plugs.
Didn't have time to look at it this weekend either. I'm sure I'll figure it out, after all I have the best help available here and I do appreciate you all. Didn't hit anything I'm sure of that. It was really strange though. Off on Thursday for Thanksgiving so hopefully I can pull anything then. I'll be sure to let you all know.
Ok. So I finally got around to pulling the codes and here's what I found:
TCS: C1225H LF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
BCM: B2578H R Front turn signal monitor circuit
B2583 L Front Turn signal monitor circuit
IPC: U1176H Lost Communication with XXX
U1160H Lost Communication with XXX
RFA: U1096H Lost Communication with XXX
U1064H Lost Communication with XXX
U1016H Lost Communication with XXX
Is there anything here That would cause the engine run problem that I described? Is the RFA designation have to do with the FOB/Transmitter/Receiver system? Appreciate your help and/or advice.
With those loss of communication codes, I'd start with the battery and the grounds. Somewhere here is a great writeup on checking the grounding points, I'm sure someone will post it.
With that said, it doesn't appear to me that it's a serious problem.
I also suggest you clear the existing codes, so if it occurs again you'll have a fresh starting place.

Battery is new this spring and connections all appear tight and clean, but I'll sure pull and clean again. I'll search for the post on grounding points. Appreciate the answer man!
