IMO, modding helps the car last longer. I've had my C5 basically stock for 4yrs now. Getting a little bored with it, so I put heads and cam in it. Here's to another 4 years
Yes indeed. The $4500 I have spent on shocks, rims, exhaust, and now a complete Double D sound sytstem that's supposed to arrive by next Wednesday is something I didn't plan, something I'm not quite sure I had the free will to resist, and something that still ain't over, as I'm already looking at Z06 front and rear sway bars. It's a black hole of love and obsession, from which there is no escape.
Oh hell no. That stuff is getting drop shipped at my mechanics shop. The ol' lady would never be prepared for the amount or size of incoming packages. It would be the apocalypse.
The rear CV axles make clunking noises when I'm parking, going from drive to reverse, etc. My mechanic said the passenger side has a lot of play, and the drivers side isn't as bad, but I'll have him switch them both out at once. He said I could really use new motor mounts too.
I found a set at autozone for the "duralast gold" for 80 each for the rear CV axles. Should I go with something better, or will they be enough?
Just stay out of the FI section(jerks) I now know why they call them blowers, after the install I blew away lots of cars around town, then I blew a motor, then I blew a transmission, blew lots of cash fixing it all, now it blows my mind every time I drive it

Good luck And you have been taking it out on us ever since !!
There is no hope for you[/QU
You guys are right a fool and his money shall soon part. At this point it's like, F it. I advise not doing any Internet "browsing" after a few cocktails. It seriously impairs your judgement.

Makes you think about buying a lot Raimen noodles and hotdogs just so you can afford that next new mod.
FWIW, it does no good to be the opposite of a gearhead, someone who just wants a stock C5 because it's already such a great car, why mess with it? I never suspected that I'd get sucked into modding my bone stock C5, but that plan flew out the window about $4k ago. Now I have a list for the next couple of years that will soak up my discretionary income nicely.
Seriously, I wanted to enjoy my car, drive it around all stock. But I've been creeping on here for far too many hours lately, and it looks like I'm going to be wasting some money. Thanks again. I hope you are proud of yourselves.
Holy Krikey, I ain't been on here but a week or two and have been bitten by this terrible bug and have the fever pretty bad!! I have black mostly stock 02 Z06 w/a blower and thought when I bought it, it had everything I would ever need. I can add up about 10K in my freakin head that I wanna do already with what I have seen on here. This site is evil to my bank account!
I have giving strict instruction to my son to make sure to pickup any packages that is left at the front door, and move it to the garage behind something. LOL

Won't do much good if your son stacks them behind the Corvette she has not seen yet!
