Default Cold Air Screen Question

Well, this is the first time I've ventured over to the Z06 side, but I've got a question that I thought may be applicable to Z06's, too. I've bought the cold air screens for my Convertible, but haven't had the time to put them in yet. I've heard that they won't make that much of a difference as far as providing the engine and intake with cooler air, but I've also wondered about the screen holes letting more water, dirt, and bugs into the engine compartment.

Do you guys have much of a problem with the cold air screens of the Z06 letting more stuff into the engine compartment? Thanks for the time. :seeya

I have not had a problem w/my Z. I also had the cold air screens on my Coupe and did not have a problem. I had the RM Racing vents that replaced my stock foglight surround (I did not buy the Z06 screens) and I loved them. They looked nice, pulled more air in and it did not look like a Z06 copycat. I can't say if for sure it added any HP, but I figured it could not hurt and it looked good doing it.

Letting MORE water/debris into the engine compartment? Hummm, havn't heard that before.

I had the screens on my coupe before the Z, had LESS crap in the engine after I installed them.

Thanks for the different viewpoints. I never would have thought that they could help with less stuff in the engine compartment. As as aside, I have also ordered the hood seal from Mid America. Hopefully, those 2 things will help. And like was said above, the cold air screens I got from West Coast Corvettes have oval black holes, so they won't be a Z06 copy. If I win the lottery anytime soon, a Spiral Gray Z06 would be cool. Later on!!!! Take it easy!!!!!
