Default c5 headlight problem

I know I need to rebuild my passenger side headlight motor as it makes a grinding noise when I shut off headlights. But my problem is when I put on my parking lights the headlights open up but do not light. If I unplug the passenger headlight the drivers side operates normally. Will the rebuilt passenger side motor fix this problem? Any help?

I'm not sure what would cause light to pop up when turning on parks. It's normal for the headlights to stay up when you switch from headlights on to parks. But off to parks headlights should not pop up. Dont know if fixing the motor will fix this issue.

When you rebuild motor use a metal gear in place of the plastic one. A new plastic gear will likely fail again very soon. Metal gear is a permanent fix. Search the forum. There is good documentation on how to do the rebuild. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem/condition. I'm told it all has to do with the gear that is stripped.

It is the broken stock plastic gear. Mine did the same thing. When the gear was broken, if you turned on parking lights the headlights would pop up, but not light up. Fixed broken gear with brass gear and now headlights do not pop up when turning on parking lights. Use the brass gear replacement! Good luck.
