Default Cheap but effective C5 ramps

of course I would love a four post lift or a quick jack, but garage isn't tall enough and I'd rather spend the money on some mods. So I did what every other person would do, I used what I had and built something. Quite simple, but very effective. Cost under $100 if you had to start with nothing.

Material list - Rhino Ramps, 2- 10 foot 2x10's, 1-2x4, screws of your liking (I used some deck screws I had already).

Some might call it redeck or ghetto, I call it effective! Front end is just over 14 inches off ground. Made it possible to install Vararam B2 system.

Nice ramps. Here is my setup and it works really well with my car on coilovers.

I have used Rhino Ramps on both my C5s with success.
But I never needed to use a wood pre-ramp with them. I just drive right up the Rhino Ramps.

Default Wow, lots of alternative ramp plans out there

All these options are great! The one reason I did the wood ramp lead up to the rhino ramps is so I didn't drag the front end up it. Doubt it matters, but matters to me

Default How did you connect to rhino ramp?

Looks like you used a bolt or something to connect to rhino ramp

Looks great and like how the car is completely up and off the ground. Might make some of those cross member supports to jack up rear.

If anyone is interested, here are the dimensions:
i used 2x12 and 2x6 pieces. You don't need the stopper on rear pieces. Also when placing these, the front is right against the tire and the rear is about 6 inches away and just drive on up.

Thanks for sharing this with dimensions, made half of these and used them as solution to get my 99 off the ground few days ago to replace a fuel line. Also planning to use them in the future for oil changes and for anything else needing my c5 off the ground.

Sorry, but I'm missing something here. Quick jack raises 21", your garage appears no shorter than mine and I raise the wifes Charger in there.

2x12s

I was looking at your measurements for the 2 x 12’s and 2 x 6’s used in the ramps. It appears like the 2 x 6 cradles are the same size front and back. Is that true?

Nice, I have a similar setup but shorter/easier to store away. My Rhino ramps have a void in the middle, so I made extensions with strong deck screws to place into these voids to hold the extensions in place and not slip out. Worked like a charm:

Then I ended up getting one of these (so no need for them anymore except as a backup):

Looks like there is some history with your garage space. Is there a story that goes with it?

It's an old Philadelphia carriage house right in the heart of the city, built circa 1875-1895 according to old maps. Used to be used to store a horse carriage back in the day (or a horse or two?). I looked up some archival info and in the 50s (that's the farthest it goes back for the online records) it was later used as a shoe shining parlor, and also a printing/bookbinding space. One day I'll go to the main branch of our library here and lookup microfiche and other documentation to get more info on the history (they have a lengthy guide on how to do this for old properties in the city); should be a fun exercise.

Old thread I know, but how long is the wood for the rhino ramps? Already have them so why not use them.
