Default Haynes Manual C5

Hope this is OK to post, not sure how big Haynes manuals are in the US but they've recently released one for the C5:

There's a discount this weekend as well, an alternative to the GM service manuals perhaps?

I had a Haynes manual for my C3. Of course it doesn't compare to the GM manual, but it was extremely helpful and paid for itself many times over. You get what you pay for and the Haynes manual was more than worth the low price.

Haynes manuals may work for the very basic maintenance/repair stuff, which is probably whey the are cheap. But for specific repairs and diagnosis, the Factory Service Manuals are the book sets to have. Yes, the do cost more, but these manuals are written for experienced DIY's or auto repair shop service techs.

The Haynes books won't have any sort of year-specific wiring diagrams for the various electrical systems, especially a '97-2013 book . And I would not trust the Haynes books for data like torque specs.

Why? I've used Haynes manuals for many different makes and models over the years and I have found the info contained within to be very accurate...

AS said, the Haynes manual is OK for limited repair info on the car, but for more detailed info, get the factory service manuals. The factory service manuals come in multiple volumes and are very detailed in diagnosis and repair procedures.

If purchased new they are expensive, but occasionally they show up in the C5 Parts for Sale section at a reduced price.

Better link, cheap enough and free shipping.

I guess for those of us in the UK it's a more interesting alternative, the shipping alone on a used set of GM manuals makes them impractical. I agree this isn't a replacement but a good place to start none the less.

The Haynes manual is pretty good, but since it doesn't cost $300.00, a lot of corvette people think it's not good enough. Since it's vette related, they think to be good it has to cost an arm and a leg. The Haynes manual is well worth the price.

Aren't Haynes manuals based on complete tear downs and rebuilds? I believe it states they are right on the front cover...
