[Z06] Z06 catch can setup - pic

I don't track my car but I occasionally run it hard and there's always oil in the throttle body. I mainly was checking to see that I had mine setup properly. There aren't many pics on the net showing a setup on a C5Z.

Yes if the can is directional.... it should go valley cove ->can inlet->can outlet->pcv valve/throttle body.
if you want to keep out all oil vapors you would also want to install a can or come up with some other solution for the "clean side" of the pcv system. which for the Z06 should be passenger side valve cover -> intake/throttle body. looks like that line is disconnected in the photo above.
Majority of blow by will come from the 'dirty side' though, so if you goal is to catch most of the vapors, then you should be good to go as you have it now.

mine is much simpler. I bought the 50 dollar catch can from corvette mods.. one piece of hose goes from the bottom of throttle body which is the out to the little catch can bottle and the other goes to the top part of the tb with another hose. no clamps needed. pressure fit. tried it and works great. drove 70 miles and a couple of spirited acceleration burst and at the end of the day had half a teaspoon of oil in my little glass bottle catch can. that would have gone into my intake and my plugs etcc. it is worth the money to keep all the intake clean. My buddy has a 1990 modded zr1 and he didnt check his catch can for 2 months of daily driving and his was a huge full can of oil inside. he was shocked. some spit out more than others. I think it depends on the mods.

Not to steal this thread....i remember when i installed mine $50 catch can i ended up removing the pcv valve competely because when i leave it in there. while driving then stoping the car reves up past 1k rpm right away and idles funny...and i been driving with out it since....no issues...don't know if its a good or bad thing

Not to steal this thread....i remember when i installed mine $50 catch can i ended up removing the pcv valve competely because when i leave it in there. while driving then stoping the car reves up past 1k rpm right away and idles funny...and i been driving with out it since....no issues...don't know if its a good or bad thing

the problem with closed off cans like that is they do not do anything for crankcase pressure. the problem with open cans is that it defeats the pcv system
you are getting oil in front of the blade because it is pushing out the passenger vale cover port (the only place blowby can go stock, and it takes oil with it)
so then because the first catch can isn't good enough they sell you a second can or a separator for this 'clean side' which is more check valves and baffles which only makes the problem worse as anything added to the system continues to increase crankcase pressure.. the air will find its way out via the dipstick tube or main seal.
this is why I started my company, and It fixes these problems every day.

it is a $1 upgrade to any can order you have in your shopping cart by adding this before check out. you will need to select a fitting of your choice and any hose or hose end you also wish to use with it as well.
