I have a Supercharged 02 Zo6 with 611rwhp/532rwtq. Currently there are 4.10's in the car, which were in the car when I purchased it. The supercharger was not. I am thinking about going back to 3.42's. The car is driven on the street about 3-4k miles a year. Never tracked.
How would going from 4.10's to 3.42's change the car?
Does anyone have a gear calculator that would help me understand?
the tires wouldn't spin as much, higher top speed in each gear, stay in boost longer, car will launch better, nothing but plusses really... 4.10's are overkill for your car in my opinion, on top of that the z06 gearing is shorter than the mn6 gearing in the base c5's so that just makes it even worse

the only thing I have heard, is with a SC you don't want 4.10's // Soooooo trade me for my 3.42's
I am exhibiting my total ignorance on rear on gear ratios. What does 3.42 axle (that I have in my vert) give me for performance and economy?
3.42's must be a manual ? if it's a Auto then someone changed them. Lower gears makes the engine power and RPM's easier to move the car. Providing you can transfer the power to the ground (not spin the tires off). here is a site explaining better than me. http://www.badasscars.com/index.cfm/...rod/prd398.htm
I have a twin turbo car. With 4.10 you will be fighting wheel spin all the time; even at the 3/4 shift. I have spun the wheels at 100 mph; not fun. I would consider even a taller gear. You have the power to pull it and do not need the mechanical advantage. Think about a 2.73 gear. It will get you to 60 mph in first and 200 in fifth. The down side is that 6 become purely high speed interstate gear. 2.90 maybe ok too. With just rear end change it will always be a compromise. The best solution is to go to 3.42 with tranny gear change. I went this route with a t6060 with gearing very similar to the zr1. There is a forum vendor that will build you a t6060 to fit your c5. That way you no longer need to baby your tranny. While you have it appart, get their built rear end. No worries when you dump the clutch.
btw i have a spreadsheet that does the calculation. Not sure how to get it to you. Maybe pm me your email.

how much power does it take before the stock clutch won't take it in the higher gears as far as the transmission. I would also think the taller rear end might make it slip before the lower 4-10 would, am I right, I've never had one of these cars before and been wondering about potential clutch problems.

My stock clutch start sticking to the floor at 438rwhp.
