Admission....
Talk about a hobby.....I had a beat-up front license plate cover that was in terrible shape. Already did the bumper. Instead of buying a new one...about $75. to $100.
Took off the old one, sanded it down, two coats of primer, two coats of torch red paint and two coats of clear. That was followed with white letter inserts. It came out nice with over 10 hours of love on this.
Wouldn't change a thing about the entire process.
P. S. The point of the above is...don't buy parts you can fix and don't go to dealerships if you can fix it yourself (with the help of the Forum).

You make a good point - not everything has to be a disposable item just because it needs a little repair work done to it. Plus you get the satisfaction of doing the work yourself.
