Its the cold weather . If you check out the tires you have you'll see that the operating temp is a lot higher that you had them up to . Summer tires winter tire ,I have the same prop. not the trans tires ..

I just crawled under rear of car, sway bar is broken in half..

That wouldn't explain why it suddenly kicked out if you were just going straight. But, it definitely would explain why it was so difficult to recover and took you on a wild ride before coming to a stop.

thanks, I'm going to pull codes this afternoon, I must have a bad wheel sensor somewhere because abs light came on. my only question is why did the abs light not come on until late after I stopped? it was not in prior.

the ABS light, could be that in a skid one wheel (or more) will have a different speed, don't know if you had the brakes on ??

yea my foot was almost through the fire wall trying to keep the car from skidding backwards into a tree lol

That is a perfect excuse to upgrade to thicker sways.
Maybe it hit a serious pot hole over and over.

Would the rear sway bar cause the problem mentioned? The base C7 doesn't even come with one (similar style suspension).

I don't think it caused the traction break but I'm sure that's why it was so difficult to get under controll
