Default New seat foam fitting problems?

Has anyone who has recovered their seats and used new foam had a problem with the foam not fitting properly?
I couldn't get my seatback cover to go around the side bolsters with the new foam. I tried the old foam and it seems to fit.
I tried doing some trimming and "pocket making', and it seems to be helping. Just concerned about how far I have to go, and if this is a common problem.
Thanks folks!

I haven't recovered any seats, but in reading here, your situation is not an unusual complaint. I have read some posts that suggest the only way to get a good fit is to order foam and covers from the same place. Not the best news for me and others who just need foam.

I clicked in for some helpful hints, feeling that I would be needing the same answers , one of these days.

The foam came from Interior Innovations as well. No issues with the seat foam, some minor trimming, but the seatback and center cushion were too thick to work as is. I got to a point with the bolster foam that I just didn't want to remove anymore. I wrestled it into place, but couldn't get those plastic push pins to hold, so I worked out a system with blind zip ties that is working well so far. Here's before and after:

Heat often helps. I tumbled my skins in the dryer just enough to warm them up well before stretching them over the foam. Placing the skins out in warm sun also works, but not much was around when I was doing mine ;^( Also using a powerful hair dryer to soften the leather in tight spots......not a heat gun as they get too hot.
I also read where a guy took the very thin plastic sack that comes on dry cleaning and placed it over the seat foam and then pulled his leather over it. Said it made it way easier?

I will give all that a try! I read about and 'converted' my soldering iron to a hot knife which did help with the pocket mod.
