Had one in a previous Vette. I would not buy one again. They won't let you watch them install it (it's a "secret" location). They will cut and splice into the delicate electronics on the C5. If you ever have wierd electrical issues (which never happens on a C5 ;) ), you might suspect their work, but you won't be able to check it (perhaps just peace of mind).

If your car is stolen and trashed, do you want it back? It's up to the insurance company whether to total the car, not you.
I had a car stolen, equipped with a decent alarm/antitheft system. Looks like they towed it. Car was stripped and dumped in a matter of hours, long before it was reported stolen.
If the car wasn't due for stripping, then they'd likely put the car in a faraday cage (ferrous metal lined truck) rendering any EM transmission useless.

Another thing to consider, many antitheft devices offer additional insurance if the car is stolen. Read the fine print. Many times the effective length of the "insurance" is very short. More importantly, they provide NO benefit if the car is stolen and then recovered. The current trend is stripping cars and "returning" them.

A better system would be an alarm that broadcasts automatically when the car is stolen (battery powered, encrypted wireless arming), sending GPS coords straight to your video cell phone alarm system  . I know they used to have pager alarms, so such a system is totally doable using today's technology.

I got one on my Z and would not get it again. Huge waste of money, and the insurance savings was on the order of twelve dollars ($12) per year.

Spend the money on a better insurance company and get gap protection -- much better investment.

The only way that Lojack is connected to your vehicle harness is for a power and a ground. No permanent damage is done to your harness. I have Lojack in my personal vehicle. I also have a Lojack vehicle locator in my work car. I recovered a Z06 about six weeks ago. It had been stolen about 25 minutes when I got the tone in my unit. It had been stolen with a flat bed tow truck. The owner was thrilled to get his car back with no damage. I don't think an insurance check would pay for the time I have invested in modifying my vehicle. Just a thought.

they were going to install it on my vette.... they told me it would pay for its self in a few years on insurance savings thats :bs it would be like 7-8 years... now keeep in mind the stock security system is top notch and anyone who steals the car knows what they are doing so the logical question is asked do you really want the car back if they do take it? i also got comments from police officers and they even said its not worth it... i had the dealer cancel the install and spent the money on better things like my borla stingers :D :D just my .02
