So I'm looking at replacing the HU, I'm thinking of these 2 options.

1. Leave it single DIN, install a Kenwood KVT-7012BT HU with a motorized screen. (will cover the center vents when deployed)

2. Android (Pumkin or similiar) double DIN

Problem with the Kenwood is I hate motorized screens, but I wouldn't have to drop nearly $500 on the double DIN bezel.

The Android is a lot of bang for the buck, get a lot of functionality and ability to customize the HU software.

I also plan on putting in an ODBC data transmitter hands free mic and backup camera. All of which both HUs will support, only the Kenwood would require my android phone to mirror the ODBC display to the HU.

I'm leaning towards double DIN, even with the extra cost. I professionally installed car audio for 5 years so I'll save that on labor

Am I missing any other options?

I replaced my single din with a aftermarket radio and was never happy with it. Then last Jan. Dennis (DD Mods) ran a special and I could not resist, now very happy with my DD with Android and back up camera !! I have seen a couple of Dennis's specials already this winter, may have another one or call him and see what he would do for you !!!

Thanks Pounder, I think Im going double din with an android HU, but I read somewhere that some of them are not true to double din standard and some modification is required on the bezel. Did you run into any of that? Also I just noticed spellchecker bite me on ODBII ...don't think cars have odbc.

might cost me more, but will happier I think

A C5 has a very odd DIN and a half opening. its not a single DIN. if you buy a single DIN HU, it will need a filler plate . To put a double DIN in your C5 will require a modification to your existing Bezel. Dennis a DD Mods can accommodate you with this process and also offer you his help and guidance in a selection that will be a very educated one. All you need to do is give him your budget, and allow him to guide you to your best options. He is a great guy and always willing to help with any issues including holding your hand through the install. His systems are always plug and play, so you do not have to figure out how to connect your new HU to an existing Bose speaker system,. or upgrade your existing speakers.
