Default Removing Tacky Chrome Letters?

Hope this is the right place to ask this question. I would like to remove the chrome letters someone added to the back and front of my coupe. I am worried that it will look worse when I am through so so far I have not attempted this. Anyone gone before me? Tips and advice is welcome. Mike

Yes the crappy tail light covers are already gone

They are stuck on with double sided tape. A product called 'goo be gone' can be purchased at Wall Mart, or a drug store, this will remove the adhesive. You'll have to 'pry off' the letters (use a sharp knife and be careful not to scratch the paint), then remove any remaining adhesive.

Personally I like the look on the black car.

fishing line can be used if you can get it in behind the letters

That would be my suggestion, too. Depending on where you live, if there's any sunshine available, park the car with the rear facing the sun. Let the sun warm the car, then work the fishing line behind the letters. If you don't have any sun, use a hair dryer, CAREFULLY......

All good suggestions. I too like the look of the chrome/polished letters on the car, but they are not for everyone. Good luck getting them off.

Like stated before the addition of some heat on the letters will help in removing. Either the sun or hair dryer. Don't over do it with the dryer. Fishing line will minimize scratching.

Good on removing the covers, I will say though, the silver makes the "Corvette" pop quite a bit. I may be partial because I have silver on my Torch Red FRC.
