I'm wanting to install a Double DIN stereo. What's the best way to go with this without spending a hole lot of money? I want tp keep the stock speakers for now and no sub. I realize I'll have to replace the bezel. What will I need for the install? I want to stay under 1k in total cost. XM radio is a must have. What have you guys done?

Awesome I'll give you a call. I want a complete package that I can install for under 1k. I was on your web site looks good. What's the turn around on the bezel mod?
Mine also looks like Evil-Twin's. At the time I got mine from Dennis, it was the state-of-the-art Kenwood. It has everything and more that you didn't know you needed. It's got bluetooth, Garmin navigation (the best), back up camera and a whole bunch of other stuff. It sounds decent playing through the stock speakers. My entire package was around $700 and well worth it. I was very happy and I'm sure you will be too. BTW, Chasboy is a friend of mine and we exchange alot of ideas. I hope I was some of an influence on his decision.

I am going to suggest we change from the Pioneer APP4 to the new coming this month Kenwood DMX7704S
For 50.00 less in cost we will be able to upgrade you to the better harness in the xsvi2004 which will have better highs for your stock speakers over the roemvet1
You will have MUCH more for features and better sound quality over the APP4
The Kenwood does both Android Auto and Apply Carplay as well.
MUCH MUCH nicer option for you in my eyes plus 50.00 less in cost as well.
XM is great, I have it in my other vehicles. Couldn't find a good spot to put an xm antenna on my convertible. Dennis, have you come up with a good option? I have a Kenwood through Dennis and could not be happier with product or service.

Best way I recommend for Sirius XM
Download the app and bluetooth it
Sound quality is much better as well.
Other than that I place on dash under grill in top is best place I have found.
Thanks as welll for the kind words.
Dennis

Yes he is, and yes Jeff, your unit pushed me over the edge.
Let me relate my Jeff the Striper story. When I got my Z and started going to our bi-weekly weekend cruise, we parked near each other and of course we did what owners of the same car do...bs'd. Anyway the conversation eventually got to the forum, and he told me he was Striper. Coming from a town on the Hudson River caused me to ask him if he was a fisherman. He said no, he is a pinstriper (and a good one at that) and he gave me his card. "Paintwerks by Jeff". Well, in 1984 we bought a new Audi and had it pinstriped. Yup, by Jeff. So I said to him, 'you pinstriped my car 28 years ago". We've been good friends and mutual idea bouncers ever since.

Thank you Dennis. I will send out my bezel in the morning. I can't wait to get this in the Vette.
Dennis still around? Any other referrals to modify radio bezel?
Dennis’ website is down and his phone numbers are non working. Does anyone else have any contact for him or know if he’s even doing this work anymore? If not, does anyone have any other referrals? Thanks.

He’s no longer a forum vendor. You can buy a double din bezel from VetteNuts though.

The one from Vettenuts is excellent quality and matches the finish/texture of the rest of the dash. There is a less expensive version from Metra, and believe it is about $120 less. Although $120 is still a nice chunk of change, over the course of however many years you keep your car, my opinion is the Vettenuts bezel becomes a worthwhile upgrade based upon the enhanced quality.
