friend has this 98 vert and when you grab the dr, side door handle the window goes down approx. 1 inch. when you get back in and close the door the window goes back up. is this normal or is it a problem? if a problem how is it fixed. thanks for your help.

Never heard of a C5 having that feature from the factory. There is a product out there called a Window Valet, but that works off the FOB to the best of my knowledge.

Under the dash / knee bolster, there may be a gadget plugged into OBD II socket that might have control. It doesn't make since on a C5.
What some convertible folks have is gadget called a window valet.
That is so when you turn the key off to get out to put the top back up, you can press a button on the key fob to put the windows up. Rather than awkwardly getting back in the car and turning the key again to put the windows up.
Still doesn't make since. Whatever he is having, I will take a half shot.

The window valet is controlled by the key fob.
It costs around $100.
Press the unlock button three times and the windows go down.
Press the lock button three times and the windows go up.
It also has some other features that can be programmed in.
