OK Guys, I have done my homework and retrieved all the codes that are "C" or Current on my D.T.C. or dash's computer system. These are the 3 codes that came up:
Now, armed with this information, Is there any way I can fix these current problems on my own? Maybe some guidance from some of you would help me ?? Thanks for any help on this, CorvetteBob
Does everything still work ? Do those same codes keep popping up?
I would get some random codes before I started using a battery tender. Haven't got any codes since in the last 3 years. Seems like low voltage can cause some codes to pop up.
I think that if you read the shop manual that P0155 is on the passenger side and not the drivers side. P0135 would be for the drivers side O2 sensor heater issue.
You are correct sir! Thats what happens when the coffee hasn't kicked in
With the age of these cars (youngest is 13 years old) I would replace both front O2 sensors.
As to the EBCM error, two things to do first before attempting to find a replacement. Fully charge the battery and have it load tested. This is to make sure it is good. Two have the ignition switch cleaned. There is a great set of instructions for this by Bill Curlee on how to do the cleaning. As has been stated the C5 is sensitive to the electrical system voltage when initializing components like the ABS system or column lock.
Also have a look at the contacts on the starter, these have been known to corrode or loosen and cause issues, also the Bakelite that the terminals are mounted to can degrade and cause issues.
As to the airbag issue. With the battery disconnected inspect the wiring at the base of the steering column. see if anything is damaged there. This is a wild guess, if there was ever any steering rack work done on the car there is the possibility that the steering wheel is a full revolution off one way or the other. If so this could have stretched the clock spring that has the wiring for the airbag. This could be the issue.
Great, Lots of interesting ideas guys, My battery is an Optima Yellow Top, less than one year old, So I don't think its a battery problem, The car starts and runs just fine otherwise. I'm guessing maybe its a bad ground somewhere or the key switch is dirty like someone just said on here. I'm pretty sure that the ECBM is out like many out there are, I've read lots of horror stories about this issue, Don't really care if it works or not as long as I can still drive my car without any major issues. Thank you for all the input on my issues, Going to try and check some of them out for sure. Good day and happy motoring to all...CorvetteBob
New battery, old battery, I would still have that battery checked. I was chasing my tail for a while on codes and finally discovered that I had a nearly brand new defective battery. Changed out the bad for a new, all codes gone, no problems since. C5's are very voltage sensitive. Its a quick easy item to check and may save you some trouble. Good luck!
