The unusual carbon fiber pattern is known as spread tow. It is thinner, and is almost exactly as strong as conventional weave patterns. It is however much more expensive :/ CFC makes some of the finest carbon products for Corvettes that I have seen, can't go wrong, just cost more money. Same with Black Dog Speed Shop, they also use spread tow fabrics to make their hoods.
