Default Question for guy with long tube headers..

My cars lowed and I have LG long tubes on it and as expected have clearance issues on occasion. We just purchased a new house and the way the driveway is I dont think I'm going to make it so may have to have the side walk and bottom of the driveway redone. My question here is how far does the end of your headers at the collection point hang below the bottom of your car,, again I have LG',, so question would be for Pfadt, Kooks etc.. thanks..

I have ARHeaders, no clearance problems with driveways. And my car is lowered on stock bolts as far as possible. The airdam scraps on certain driveway entrances.

I just looked and the band clamp on my Kooks show maybe 1/4". And that's right about where the front of the doors are. The hi-flow cats hang about 1".

Xspower headers here. Mine are tucked up just as high as the oem manifolds and h pipe were.

What helps me is coming at the driveway like your pulling fwd into a parallel parking spot with no cars, front, or rear, and stopping. Then crank your wheel 100%, and creep over the curb opening. I'm about 1.5" to the ground with my air dam, but a solid 3 inches at my splitter, and I NEVER have a problem going in to, or out of a driveway anymore, once I started doing that.

I have 1-7/8" OBX headers, and they hang down about 1/4" on passengers side, still not an issue. I drag the middle of my car before my headers, going into long steep drives, and I am REAL low, just check the pic!

My issue is with the crazy way the poured my driveway. I can just clear with the wife's 08 Z51 but mine is like yours. I actually haven't brought the car to the house but mad a template to see if I'd make it and I'm pretty sure it won't. The LG's hang low, I'll have to take another look under the car today and be sure it's the headers and not the cats that are low..

Thx

XS Power with hi flo CATS and QTP electric cutouts. No issues to date and I am lowered on LG drop spindles and Stance coil overs. Original bands were replaced from those pictured.

I've got LG pros for about 13 years, and they've never scraped. Lots of other areas of concern, but not the headers. I did have to rotate the clamps up out of the way, but I drove a year or so with them rotated bolts down, and never scraped them either.

very interesting. I had thought of doing something like this in a DIY effort

In reality - all driveways and all cars are unique. So the combination of each driveway and each vehicle will also be unique.

When you look under your car how much of the headers collector can you see? Without measuring I'd just about an inch and a half extends below the bottom of the car.. same header LG Pros 03 Z06.

Thx

I have Kooks and 1 & 7/8s headers and their high flow cats/x-pipe on my coupe, which is lowered on 18/19 wheels. The lowest point on my exhaust is the catalytic converters, which occasionally scrape when I come into my garage. I have a gravel driveway and was able to put a little hump in the driveway right in front of the apron that alleviates the scrape. If I have a large dinner, I know that I need to go add some more gravel to the hump.

Maybe the Bridjit can help you as mentioned above:

To be honest, I'm not sure if mine are the same as yours. I got them back when LG was having them made by Borla (I think) and the collectors are pretty close to flush.

That's crazy Frank, looks just like my under carriage.. lG Pros, Pfadt adjustable sway bars and coil overs😉 Although I can't see from side it looks like they set a little low at the collectors? I looked st mine again the other day and I'd say they are more then an inch below the bottom of the car, normally not a problem but new crazy driveways a problem. Thanks for the pic, you don't happen to have an AP Racing big break kit on the front🙂..

Looks great
Thanks Rich

Kooks LT with catted X pipe. Car is lowered all the way on stock bolts. My air dam scrapes slightly in and out of my driveway, but no issues at all with the headers.

I have TSP long tubes. No problem. I do have a real problem with either or both of the air dams scraping (there's one for the intercoooler in fron of the factory dam). I like the idea of the bridgit. I'm going to have to look into that a bit more.
