Default C5 Corvette Evaluation

I live in KC. Looking at an 04 Comm Ed at the Chevy dealer in Paris, KY. How does a person go about getting an unbiased opinion on this car so I don't unload a nightmare off the car hauler in KC?

One way would be to post up a thread in the Southeast Regional Section of the forum asking if there is a forum member near where the car you are interested in that would be willing to take a look at it for you.

There are professional appraisers that for a fee will look at a vehicle and give you a comprehensive report on the car. That would be another option.

There is a Corvette Club in Lexington, contact them about a member(s) who would do an inspection with you on the weekend...

I would invest the time/money to look at it yourself. That way, there are no unpleasant surprises. Having someone else look at it is second best, certainly better than buying sight unseen, but one guy's opinion of what's OK or not may not match up with your opinion.

Get as much info as possible from where you are, inquire about service records, accident history etc. If all looks good, as others above already opined, I would go look in person, you are not that far away from the car. I'm fussy and what is acceptable to others may not be for me. Nothing, in my opinion, takes the place of an in person looksee. Don't forget a thorough tech check, end to end, by someone who knows C5's. When I bought my C5, took a year to find what I wanted, rented an unlimited mileage econobox, drove from Texas to the DC/VA area and drove it back. Nice road trip, both ways, enjoyable and well worth the few days! Good luck to you!
