I've seen several of those over the years at car shows - not one of the better retro conversions IMO.
Have not seen one for sale though. It was quite an expensive conversion IIRC.

A few years ago these cars were getting around $100,000 or more. I don't think so any more since the prices of real c1's are starting to come down. Never ever liked the look of them, because nobody could figure out how to put a c1 windshield on them. I think the windshield is what make them so hideous looking. Not my cup of tea.

Those things are disgusting. People always ask a lot for them though, I suppose there is an *** for every seat.

Like them or not, that are essentially a C-5 with updated body panels.
Two of the ones I've seen were found to have salvage titles, so the guy that made them bought wrecked C-5s and repaired them using parts from his idea.

Thanks for that, this is just what I wanted to know. A good friend of mine has one, only one here in New Zealand, gives us an idea what it may be worth. His is built on a brand new 04, he has had it from new.

There was one on eBay just a little while ago, asking $80K for it. It was a 2001 with 31,200 miles.
I've seen them advertised at close to $100K in the past.

I was thinking that one was a CR Coachworks Vette, similar in concept of new rig with retro body... and you're right, not exactly cheap either

I live about a mile from coachworks vettes in lakewood and i stopped by there this past summer and the owner gave me and my friend a tour of the facility.
quite the operation and what a bunch of great guys that work there, but yea, a little too rich for my blood but they do amazing transformations.

Not sure if it was one of these, but a friend found one of these retro cars on COPART a few years back that seemed like a good project. I believe it had been hit in the rear, clearly it would need some new body panels. I did some research for him and what I discovered was the company that built them would not sell body panels to him. They would however let him send them the car and they would repair it.
What appeared to have been a deal for a body shop owner was no longer a deal at all. Anyone that does consider one of these modifications might want to verify that it can be repaired locally before considering owning one.
Good luck... GUSTO

I've seen a couple of these in the wild and I have always liked them. Modern car with retro style. I think I'd prefer a true restomod instead, but these are definitely pretty cool.

Your friends must be John & Bev Pribicevich as they have #79 in New Zealand. I own #124 and most of the comments on here are BS since the only place that has produced them (on a limited one-at-a-time basis only) is Advanced Automotive Technologies in New Rochester, MI ( http://www.aatcars.com/commem_ed.html ). They will not take any "donor" C5 that has been in any kind of wreck so the post about salvage title is total BS unless the owner wrecked it after it was converted and it was subsequently salvaged. Also the comment on the '53 windshield is also BS since this vehicle has the original untouched C5 windshield as well as the entire cockpit with some optional modifications. Did your friend have it modified to right-hand drive in order to import it into NZ...? I hope not since that would make it cost-prohibitive for most people, for sure...! My avatar shows a photo of both my '65 and the CE both of which have had their engines modified a bit to produce around 425 BHP. each.. both are a hoot to drive...!
