Greetings all,
I have a 2004 coup with a factory 12 CD changer. One of the 12 CD trays is missing and I would like to replace it. I can't find anything on line except replacing the entire unit for $640. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement tray? Thanks for your time.

I have a couple extra out of my 98, if they are the same let me know. I'll hook you up.
What's a CD Changer?
Have you heard of those NEW things called 'iPod, iphone'?

I thought the same way the last thread about CD players and was schooled on how much better a CD sounds. I didn't believe it until I tested a CD against a iTunes song in the vette, I was shocked at how much better a CD sounds. Don't test it unless you are prepared to be disappointed.
If you are not comparing head to head the iPhone input is fine and much more convenient. Its all I use.
Draging all those Cd' s along, changing them out. iPod, iPhone = thousand choices In a Second is nothing to sneeze @, it called Technologie in the 2000's.
Perhaps, an 8 track, or Hightech 'cassette' will 'evolve' into 2017.

Dragging CDs along? I have three cartridges filled with burned CDs of all my favorite songs. Almost a thousand choices. Each cartridge lasts about 8-10 hours. Have never changed out the CDs. Just pop in a new cartridge and drive for hours. Simple. I really don't want to be part of the "technology" culture that has their face in their cell phone 24 hours a day or can't walk a mile without being connected to their I pod. The CD changer is all I want or need. Works great.
If you ever see me walking around looking for Pokemon, please put a bullet in my head.

It's all about convenience for sure, all I ever use is my iPhone, but I was surprised how much better a CD sounds on a stock Bose head unit than my I simple input.
I just want to bring you up to speed, in that ' CD changers aren't being built anymore, and most new cars don't even come with a CD player, just a USB input, or wifi. CD sales are waaaaay down, soon to join the ranks of the 8 track, and cassette. Why? Cause everything is being downloaded!

Hello? I am up to speed. All my music has been downloaded and burned onto CDs. I have not bought a recorded CD since the 80s. I make the most of what I've got. For me, the changer works just great. Why would I waste thousands for music in my C5, when I will probably be selling it in a year or 2 and upgrading to a C7? Then I can take advantage of the stereo it comes with.
Although it is true that CD's can sound much better than downloaded mp3's, downloaded music can sound equally as good, also. If you have a CD collection you can rip it to your hard drive in lossless format retaining all the digital quality of the original recording. The original MP3 format was developed to compress a lot of music on to not very much space. This was back when memory was at a premium and fitting a ton of songs on one CD or a small jump drive was the goal, sacrificing the musical quality by compressing the files. I have my 10,000 song collection of CD's ripped to my hard drive and burned to a jump drive that resides in my console plugged into my Pioneer Avic-7200 and have access to that music in lossless format or original CD quality at my fingertips, thereby completely antiquiating a CD changer. What a prehistoric device! To not take advantage of technology this way is silly, same as if you bought a newer generation vette to take advantage of what it has to offer if you can afford it. Just my .02.
I don't listen to music while driving my C5 - if it's loud enough for me to hear the quiet passages over the tire and exhaust noise, the loud passages blast my ears out. Maybe if I drove at 55 or something equally radical, it would be quieter......besides I like to be 100% concentrated on driving my cars, not fiddling with tech, aka distracted driving.

I agree. Listening to music is the least important thing for me when I am driving the C5. Why would I waste money on hi-tech gizmos that do the same thing as my changer.......play music.
It takes work and time to rip all your CD's plus it takes thousand$ to upgrade a head unit and complete audio to sound better than a stock system in a C5. I will stick with my Isimple input that goes through CD changer input. The convenience of buying music straight from apple and have it backed up by the cloud is worth the lower quality sound to me.
as far as distracted driving goes? There has been music players/radios in cars for decades and decades. Most stuff now has voice control so that is a controllable problem.

This is a 17 month old thread. Perhaps try the big auction site or one of the used parts vendors (like VetteNuts or Northern Corvette) here on the forum
I relaced all parts to my stereo with only 28,000 miles on the clock and went with Alpine. I have the rear CD changer, speakers, head unit, etc. available.
PM me for anything you need.
