My car currently has the corsa touring axleback on it and while I like the note it isn't quite what I want it to be. I wouldn't mind a little louder and maybe a little raspier.
I've thought about switching to the corsa extreme setup but I feel like it's almost the "generic" corvette catback these days. I've also thought about buying some spintechs and having a custom SS axleback fabbed up with those mufflers in there. One of my good friends had the spintechs kit on his GTO and it was nearly perfect IMO.
There is a reason so many people go with the Corsa Sport, or the Corsa extreme. While the Corsa Touring was a quality system, there is also a reason it is no longer available.
On another note, why would you be concerned that the Corsa extreme has been so popular?. Finally, if you like the sound of your friend's GTO, that's where I would put my money.
The Corsa Touring system was designed to replace the stock system with the same level civility. Most agree that it was an expensive choice with no noticable difference from stock. Thus the reason for being discontinued.
Good luck with your choice. I 'v e had my Corsa Sport ( aka Indy pace car ) system for 18 years, and it thrills me everytime I drive my car. It has just the right amount of authority at idle, very notable WOT, and perfection at cruise with no drone, and the perfect note, without a hint of obnoxiouness. It works for me without every a hint of disappointmental

I understand why Corsa is by far the most popular choice for our cars. They do sound good. Performance numbers are there. Looks are spot on. But they are everywhere, and everyone likes to be a bit unique at some time.
I should say my system is the tigershark one, idk if that makes a difference in sound or just tip spacing. It sounds great from 5,500 rpm up, but from 1,000-3,000 rpm leaves too much on the table for me
As far as the spintechs I've heard them on FBodys and didn't like the way they sounded and heard one on a G8 and I it was iffy. The mufflers in the GTO system are ~$150ea so it would be $400 or so to have a system made so inwas more curious to see if anyone had ever done it before shelling out the money for something that could be a bust. My car has a Tr6060 so the pipes going over the trans have had to be extended so swapping catbacks for my basically means I do the rear section only without getting super in depth. Trying to only do it once
Look into B&B PRTs. They have been on my car for 17 of the 19 years I've owned it. I get a lot of compliments on how it sounds. A lot different sound than what you have now. A lot deeper, not as exotic.

You beat me to it! From someone that has had Stock, Borla, B&B PRT and now B&B bullets he is right. The PRT's would be spot on for you. They have a bypass in them that is great for your situation. If you are mild, they are mild with no drone either. If you are wild then the bypass does its job and they sound fantastic!! Highly recommend them...

I had tried pretty much every exhaust made for the C5, and while the corsa sport did sound good with my application, it just didn't have the sound I was looking for. It was too exotic sounding for me. I went back with a set of B&B Bullets.

I also have the PRTs and get compliments as well
Perhaps they are only popular in PA! just kidding.

Anyone done a custom spintechs setup on their C5?
Easy answer for more aggressive sound wile adding performance, HEADERS!
Of course if you are in California, less options available.
Almost every loud catback has some resonance in the trunk area, except Corsa. As said above; if you want noise, get the B&B Bullets. PRTs are no louder than Corsa Pace, but they do have some resonance. The B&Bs are going to drone, guaranteed.
