Default Worth ceramic coating SS headers?

In process of upgrades to a 99 LS1 , nothing extreme, mild cam, LS6 heads, LS6 intake, throttle body etc... I have got a full SS custom exhaust set up... So question is while headers are off is it worth having them ceramic coated? Or not worth it?
What sort of gains ave you seen... Noticeable ?

Won't see any performance gains, but will decrease under hood temperatures. Wires and plastics won't dry out and get brittle as fast. Plus they look better. Good investment IMO.

Thanks guys, yes had heard it reduces in engine bay temps, is it by quite a noticeable amount?
I'm actually putting on a C5R splitter too.. which obstructs some air flow, so his might be an idea to assist that..

It is a noticeable amount. Exactly how much? Not sure. Before I had mine coated, I had 1 plug wire dry out and short twice in one year. Now, no problems.

If I were doing headers, I would opt for a coating - not only for reduced temps under the hood, but to keep the headers looking good for a longer period of time. It's worth the extra cost IMO.

yes it will reduce the temps a noticeable amount, it will still get hot but not as hot as headers that aren't coated... the coating does a really good job of keeping the heat contained in the headers and they will also cool down faster and look good for a long time... in my opinion it is definitely worth the extra cash if you have it

Snake oil. You don't need it with quality SS headers. I may be in the minority, but I like the way SS looks after it ages. I use cool sox on the plug wires, so that's not an issue.

From a search I can find numerous threads where someone has called one of the big 3 manufacturers (ARH, Kooks, LG) and each time the manufacturer does not recommend coating.

Jet Hot, in matte red.
They do turn dark when hot, but brighten right back up when they cool. It's kind of neat to watch.
I don't remember the cost, you'd have to call them.
I had them shipped direct to Jet Hot and coated when new.

I'm not an expert but I just had a Cam kit and Kooks headers installed and the shop included socks. They said there is no need for coating going this way.

Mr. Pounder! Mine were on the car when I bought it, but not coated. They put longer heat resistant wires on and routed them as far from headers as possible. Was going to get them coated, but I guess now that won't happen. They really do look better.

Yea, I pulled my headers for a head/cam swap...and I've been collecting quotes all in the $300 range to coat my headers. I've been running socks with the headers for a few years and wires look brand new, I think I'll skip the coating.
