I was wondering if anyone knew how I can find out from my v.i.n. just how many black 2004 z06 were built with the red interior. I know there were 662 total built with the. RPO 704. B/R interior but that number includes the silver cars which also were available with the black/ Red interior. I'd like to know the break down for each color. Thanks, Gary Wilson

The VIN does not provide any sort of information like that. GM didn't keep a lot of data regarding specific interior/exterior combinations by model.

The 662 black/red interior option represented about 18% of '04 Z06 production. There were 1186 black Z06 models and 967 silver cars in '04. For the black color, that was 21% of Z06 production and for silver, that color was 17% of Z06 production.

I've found that trying to determine specific options correlated to specific exterior colors is information that is a bit difficult to obtain. At best I can determine a fairly close ratio in regards to percentages but it's still an educated guess.

One thing you can use your VIN for if you haven't done so already (or have your build sticker) is learn what job number, date, and sequence your car is. You can't just call the last six digits of your VIN the sequence number because all the years had various cars at the beginning of the run that weren't necessarily for consumer usage and thus counted towards orders.

Go here:

http://www.c5registry.com/MembersOnlly/Production/2004/

So say your VIN is 128060 you would scroll to the number before it listed, 127956, and subtract. 128060 - 127956 = 104. As the job listed for 127956 is 31317, you would then add 104 to 31317 to get your job build number. = VIN 128060 would be job number 31421 for the 2004 year model.

You obviously don't have to do this if you have the build sheet on hand (located originally inside the front crash bar) as it lists the job number.

About all you can do is make a guess at how many were that color combo. Unfortunately GM didn't keep records of each option/color combo on the cars.

Just take the % of each option made that you want to compare and multiply the % together for an approximation.

Thanks for all the great input. I think I've narrowed down to an approximate number for my car. But does anyone know if the torch red 2004 Z06 was available with the black and red interior option. I know the black and the silver cars were. Love these cars!

Exactly 233 2004 Z06s with(41U) Black exterior and with( 704 code) red and black interiors were made. See page 86 of

Amazon Amazon

And there were 122 2004 Z06s with Silver (67U) exterior and (704 code) red/black interior made.

Anyone else that would like to know the produced combinations of interior, exterior, transmission, convertib le top color for 2001-2004 C5s--let me know what your combination is.
