Hey all - i have a hood liner that has some water marks on it - without me trying to order a new one to replace it, does anyone have any tricks to remove the water marks on the black hood liner?
I used ArmorAllFoamingTirecleaner on my hood liner. It looked pretty bad, water stains and dirty. Carefully remove the liner and use a soft bristle brush to gently brush off any loose dirt. Then just spray on the foaming tire cleaner. I used two cans to insure complete coverage. That was probably 4 years ago and it still looks great.
You might try this. A mixture of 50/50 water and white vinegar, this will remove water spots from many things. Try spraying on liner and rubbing in lightly with a soft brush. This will also takes spots off from paint.
I took mine off, beat it carefully to remove the really loose stuff, and hit it real quick with the air compressor @ 90psi. Then, I used black bbq paint, and dusted it evenly, and it looked brand new. It takes a little more prep for the paint pens, but if you just want stock looking black, that is a good, simple, quick way to do it
Quick question on painting it. Does it get brittle and flake off from flexing? It just seems like it would because its just going on the fibers. Don't mean to hijack, just thought it was a good question to ask.

To echo Erik as well, it's not a problem at all. It paints black very easily and soaks in before it lays on the surface. I painted mine body color (pewter) and it took a LOT of paint.

Hi,
I tried cleaning mine and it still looked bad. I removed it and gave it a few coats of BBQ flat black spray paint. I then used paint pens to paint the emblem. Once dried, I gave it a few coats of clear high heat spray paint and it came out fantastic. Looks great and I get compliments all the time.

Thanks chasboy. That's good to know. I was considering the Pewter option for mine. I think I'll just paint the emblem now.
