Door sill plate replacement
The adhesive on the door sill plate is giving way and some other damage has occurred and I am looking to replace the door sill plates. I've been poking around but haven't found any I like so far. Chrome is a bit too much for me but I wanted something a little more snazzy than the OEM black stickers that isn't going to run almost $200 either.. Any suggestions?

I installed these about 16 years ago, but not sure who sells them now (they are heavy black plastic) - they still look like new and I have driven my C5 every day. LED's not included...

The C6 owners have a much larger market for sill plates; you can get them in all sorts of designs and model designations (Grand Sport, ZR1, etc).
I also don't go for chrome. I currently don't have to replace mine but if I did I think a really cheap and actually work-able alternative would be vinyl wrap; specifically I'd use carbon fiber vinyl for the look. You could buy a $15 roll from most of the major parts stores that now carry it, cut it to the sill shape with the slope cut to account for the outer body (so basically the other side when cut would be a mirror image), then peel and install. The good thing with vinyl would be not only durable, but if you get tired of it or need to replace it you'd just peel it off.
For some that may come across this thread that own a '97 or '98 model C5, you won't have the door sill plates. They weren't installed factory until '99.

The vinyl wrap is a good idea and if you work with a sign shop, perhaps they could customize the wrap with a design of your choosing - Corvette script, C5 logo, etc. Another option is a plastic overlay (either black or clear) that has the word Corvette embossed into it. I know Mid-America and Ecklers sells that product and other vendors may as well.

Same issue happened with mine. I went the cheap route and bought a roll of the 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber vinyl and made a template using some craft paper. Came out better than I thought, I will probably do it again but using a black vinyl.

Choreo and Mongo, those look amazing! I would love to find the retailer of those sills Choreo, the led's look sick which I'm assuming you added.
Mongo, if I can't find the ones Choreo is using, I'm probably going to go your route. Looks VERY clean and wont break the bank!
Velocity and Vetteman, Great inexpensive alternative. I am great friends with a sign shop dude, you guys may have stumbled onto something!
Thanks for all the idea's guys!

Told my wife, if you have a ? about a vette if u dig long enough n the forum u will find an answer... Sure enough I did. My 98 coupe was missing the door sill plates, I wondering why n the hell would the factory not install something as simple as a door sill plate or why over the years why one of the previous owners not installed a set????? Who knows, well n just a few days my baby will have a set of door sill plates along with the cross flags to go in the cut out spots. Thanks for this post, don't know how u came across with this info. but GM did a lot of weird things back n the old days & continues to do that even today!!!
