Is there a signifigant increase in hp as temperatures outside drop from the 90's -80's to the 60's-50's?
also, is this increase...whatever it may be really magnified that much by the fact that the engine may be supercharged?
friend of mine feels that the new cobra will experience a much bigger hp increase then the zo6 based on the fact that it is supercharged...not that i disagree with him or agree...just got me wondering
Well he is correct. He will gain more HP than you. He will get more CFM's per PSI as will all Turbo or S/C'd cars when the temp drops. I used to get fuel cut due to to much air comming in the MAF when it got real cold, just had to turn down my boost some and it cleared up. That another reason that people intercool, detination and more dence air. I don't know of any formulas for HP and temp, but you do get a nice little boost in performance.
back in the 80's,when i had a buick grand national,i read that they lost one hp for every degree over 60.it had a big drop in performance on 90 degree days.
I have now idea on the gains as far as numbers .. sorry. I'm not sure about double, but a pretty big gain vs as NA car. You'll just need to get a turbo or S/C for your car then you can both enjoy the gains of cooler weather
