The C5-R is something I never get tired of looking at or talking about, and this particular one in the photos is legendary. The Rolex 24 hours at Daytona in 2001 saw this car win the overall victory, outlasting the much faster LMP prototypes. Ron Fellows, Chris Kniefel, Franck Freon, and Johnny O'Connell hustled this car to victory lane in some of the worst weather in history of the race. Truly epic achievement what they accomplished and why I pay homage to it with my avatar.
Gorgeous car! Always been a fan of the looks of factory GT racers. I couldn't help but notice however, that the placard says "CR-5"??? Of all places to have a typo, the GM Heritage Center?! Is there some validity to this nomenclature? Someone enlighten me.

I noticed the same thing...I don't think the car was ever referred to as a CR-5... guessing it is a typo by whoever made the sign
How dare you post pics of a Corvette with a wing and body kit...lol. I have a C5R body kit on my Corvette since new. I love it and probably would not have a Corvette C5 without, get nothing but sincere compliments from people. Thanks for posting Greetings, Rob
The National Corvette Museum in their race car section has the homologation road car for the C5-R. FIA rules required them to be built to satisfy FIA homologation. It's apparently one of only two, finished in silver, and it's effectively a C5-R built to be street-driven.
