Today as I left a light, the seat popped cack like they do if the latch is not seated completely.
Reached down to lift the lever and put the seat back up, and the lever is drag. It does nothing and could turn all the way around if the floor was not in the way.
Anyone know if this is an easy fix? Hoping the seast does not have to come out of the car.

the lever goes to a cable that allows a pin ( two pins / one of each side of the seat back frame0 .these pins engage a slot in the seat back frame.. by your description the cable broke or the mechanism became disengaged.. in either case the seat has to come out and the seat skin and foam has to come off. there is a horse shoe pin in the cog that engages the lever. the lever is like an old style door handle. the only way the lever can free float is if the cog on the lever was completely stripped. Very low chance of that. the cable mechanism would be my guess as to the culprit in this issue.

But not as hard as you may be thinking it is to fix.
