Default Intake manifold question.

Anyone here know/have/heard of any actual performance usage with the MSD Atomic Airforce intake on any coupes?

Yes I know of the others out there(this is what appeals to me) mostly due to not having to buy alot of extras just for fittment (ie: FAST requires different fuel rails). I want to start moding my engine and chassis. I'm set on getting the suspension upgrade hopefully this coming winter. As far as I know outside of my Vararam CAI the engine is stock(since my pruchase).

I know all of you have more info/experience/time spent with these things and can help increase my knowledge of adding an intake manifold, and helping me out with all the little details that go with this.
All opinions are welcome but please keep in mind that I want to take baby steps for each mod I do so I can enjoy the pleasures of seeing each gain in steps. If there are better ways to start I would love to know. May even start with a CAM first... Still debating it...
Starting out with a small budget...2k ish max for now, but I'm not in a rush to buy/get it done.

Thanks for the info you provide.

From what I have read, (when they first came out) was they provided good power gains, some had fitment issues with the cowl, they are pretty !!! I wanted one but would have had to wait went with the LS 6 !!!

Can't give you any feedback on how that particular intake performs, but I do like the looks of it.

aftermarket fuel rails are fairly cheap. It becomes a wash after everything is said and done.

I am so happy I did cam first. My first mod was a stage 3 cam which was a pretty big job for me at least. So all the mods after that have been fairly quick and easy in comparison. I also did LT 1 3/4 headers right after too which let the power of the cam show big time.

I like the looks except for the MDS and AIRFORCE embossed lettering. Now this is pretty: but besides the $5K for the manifold then there is the $400 for the dual TB's (more$$) electronics and a new hood. Oh well, my LS6 will have to do for now.

Long tube headers are considered by most to be the appropriate first mod. They will also enhance just about every subsequent mod.

If you're looking at new intakes like that, have you considered an Independent Throttle Body setup? The OBX version can be found around the internet around $1200, for example: http://www.megatunning.com/individua...-sfd52-itb-kit Typically going ITB will bump your HP by about 10% up to 20% if you build a full intake system for it, and they improve engine responsiveness significantly.

New intake manifolds don't typically add much by themselves, switching to an ITB system on the other hand...

So for the same cost+/- as fast this will add how much hp? Seems like i'd be reading more about these if they were that good?
 Am I missing something?
